*JUSTICE FOR BABY SUPRIA*
*Baby Supria, a 2 year old child of a peon (belonging to a very poor family) fell from 2nd floor of her house and suffered serious injuries with multiple fractures on her head and other parts.* When taken Mahavir Hospital, Rani bagh, New Delhi doctor said she is critical and she was referred to Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi. She was immediately put on oxygen and the ambulance headed towards Safdarjung Hospital. When reached around 7.30 proper treatment was not given and she got admission only after mid night that too after much persuasion and requests.
At the time of this accident, father of Baby Supria was in Nepal and mother was accompanied by Chartered accountant Pankaj Gupta who took initiative in absence of child's father and stayed with the child in hospital for her treatment. The hospital staff showed total apathy and did not attend to the child properly considering her injuries. The parents were made to run from pillar to post caring the baby in their hands on the stretcher themselves to ENT and other doctors, one after the other while the child was unconscious but none gave any treatment. *The attendees tried to talk to Hospital Incharge begging him to treat the baby in intensive care but their request fell on deaf ears.*
*Their tears, helplessness and anxiety was not even seen but the hospital staff and the mother was standing begging for help holding her wounded baby in her hands in the general ward which was assigned late night.*
*The mother was asked to fill up Critical Consent Form by Dr. Parmar and said that he can not give any treatment until the same is signed.*
Pankaj Gupta called the doctor to examine the child as she was breathing heavily and request for ICU however the Dr. Parmar showed complete apathy and arrogant misbehaviour towards them. The child who was having several fractures on her head and also other body parts was left in the general ward with attendants in an unconscious state despite such critical injuries. No treatment was given to Baby Supria entire night even after repeated requests.
*At around 8 AM the mother when saw that baby supria is having difficulty in breathing and is shaking she went and called for help but nothing was done. She saw her baby dying in front of her eyes. Baby Supria lost the battle combating herself with her severe injuries and pain and took her last breath at around 8.30 AM on 8th May 2022*
*The hospital then came into action and within no time her mortal remains were wrapped in white cloth and tagged and kept on the same bed of general ward where she fought her battle along with her family without medical aid.*
When asked by the attendants to show the medical file Dr. Parmar and the staff refused to show the same to anyone. The body of baby supria was then taken for post mortem and there was no answer given to the attendees as to how much time will this entire process take but the hospital staff did not give any answer. It was only after intervention of Delhi High Court that the sleeping system of government hospital was brought to life and the post mortem was conducted. Delhi High Court heard the matter at 2.30 PM on 9th May 2022 and asked the concerned authorities including Delhi police to conduct the postmortem and release the body on the same day itself without exception. The matter is now listed for 10th May 2022 at 10.30 AM for compliance.
Compelled to unfortunately conclude that it's the biggest sin to be a poor in this country especially when left to die at the mercy of people like Dr. Parmar.
Inadequate, apathetic and gross negligent attitude in not providing timely intensive medical care is the reason of her death. Please lend your support to help us bring *JUSTICE to Baby Supria and prosecution and termination of Dr. Parth Parmar and other medical staff at Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi*
