Cyber law enforcement agencies across India continue to intensify action against organised cyber fraud networks.

Recent Actions Include:
ā€¢ Goa Police bust cyber fraud network spanning 11 states; 7 arrested, 313 mule accounts identified
ā€¢ Varanasi Police expose cyber fraud gang using fake APK files and mule accounts; 5 arrested
ā€¢ Tamil Nadu Police strengthen cybercrime investigations through collaboration with NIT Tiruchirappalli and C-DAC
ā€¢ Nagpur Police arrest mastermind in ā‚¹15 crore investment fraud affecting 31,000 victims
ā€¢ Pune Police crack down on cybercrime money trail; 152 mule account holders arrested

Your money was held after a cyber fraud? Hereā€™s what you need to do.

If your cyber fraud complaint has resulted in an eligible amount being held in the beneficiaryā€™s bank account, you can submit a restoration request through the Money Restoration Module (MRM) launched by Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs.

Hereā€™s what you need to do:
ā€¢ Wait for the SMS/email informing you that an eligible amount has been identified for restoration.
ā€¢ Log in to the MRM portal using your 14-digit NCRP Acknowledgement Number and OTP.
ā€¢ Verify your complaint details, refund account details and the restorable amount.
ā€¢ Upload your PAN card, enter your bank account details and submit the request to receive a Unique Request Number (URN) for tracking.
ā€¢ Submit the indemnity bond to the police. The restoration process will then proceed as per the applicable legal procedure.

Has your bank account been frozen, put on hold or suspended during a cyber fraud investigation?

If you are a genuine account holder, you can seek relief through the Grievance Redressal Module (GRM) by the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C), Ministry of Home Affairs.

Hereā€™s what you need to do:
ā€¢ Visit your bank branch and submit a written grievance. (For branchless banking, use the bankā€™s official customer care or email.)
ā€¢ Your bank will conduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) and, if your grievance is found genuine, upload it to the GRM portal within 7 days.
ā€¢ The Investigating Officer (IO) will examine your case, may request additional documents or conduct a video verification, and take a decision within 15 days.
ā€¢ If your grievance is rejected, you can appeal to the District Grievance Redressal Officer (DGRO) within 15 days. If required, a further appeal can be made to the State Grievance Redressal Officer (SGRO).
