Two Bootleggers Arrested by Doda Police; 37 Bottles of Illicit Liquor Recovered
Doda, November 20, 2025: Doda Police have seized a total of 37 bottles of illicit liquor in two separate actions carried out in Doda district, leading to the arrest of two individuals and registration of two FIRs.
In first case 13 Bottles Seized from Chicken Shop in Nagri Tondwah; Shopkeeper Arrested*
A police patrolling team of Police Station Doda, while conducting routine checks in the Nagri Tondwah area, detected illegal liquor activity inside a local chicken shop.
The patrol noticed unidentified individuals consuming liquor inside the shop of Bittu Ram S/O Pyare Lal R/O Bhagwa, District Doda. On seeing the police party, the individuals fled from the spot.

The shop owner failed to provide any valid explanation or permit for the possession or consumption of liquor inside the premises. Preliminary inquiry revealed that he had illegally procured the liquor and was allowing consumption inside his shop, thereby encouraging alcohol abuse among the youth of the area.
Accordingly, FIR No. 261/2025 U/S 48(f) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Doda, and further investigation is underway.
In another case 24 Bottles Seized at Pul Doda; One Arrested
During routine naka checking conducted by Police Post Pul Doda at Pul Doda, an Alto vehicle bearing registration No. JK06-5592, driven by Shakir Hussain S/O Habibullah R/O Babore Ghat, Tehsil & District Doda, was intercepted while travelling from Pul Doda towards Doda. Upon searching the vehicle, 24 bottles of 750 ml JK Whiskey were recovered from the dickey.
Accordingly, FIR No. 262/2025 U/S 48(a) Excise Act was registered at Police Station Doda. The accused was arrested, and the vehicle was seized.
Doda Police appeals to the general public to report any such illegal activities and cooperate with police efforts to maintain a safe and responsible environment in the district.
