*Chennai, 31st July 2026:*
The *Inauguration of UTKARSH – Regional Workshop on Competency Based Dynamic Curriculum [CBDC]* was held successfully today at *Agathiyar Arangam, National Institute of Siddha [NIS]*, Tambaram Sanatorium, Chennai.
The programme was organized by the *National Commission for Indian System of Medicine [NCISM]*, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India and hosted by *National Institute of Siddha*.
The event was inaugurated with the *full support of Prof. Dr. G. Senthilvel, Director, National Institute of Siddha*.
The ceremony commenced with Invocation including Vande Mataram, Tamil Thaai Vazhthu, Siddhar Vanakkam and Lighting of Kuthu Vilakku.
*Prof. Dr. M. Meenatchi Sundaram, PG Dean (i/c), National Institute of Siddha*, delivered the Welcome Address.
*Prof. Dr. S. Mathukumar, Member, Board of Unani, Siddha and Sowa-Rigpa Studies, NCISM* gave the Introduction to UTKARSH and highlighted the objectives of the competency-based dynamic curriculum for traditional systems of medicine.
As part of the inaugural function, the *"Textbook on Conceptual Basis of Noi Naadal – A Practical Window"* was released.
*Prof. Dr. N.J. Muthukumar, Director General, Central Council for Research in Siddha, Chennai* delivered the Felicitation Address.
*Prof. Asim Ali Khan, President, Board of Unani, Siddha and Sowa-Rigpa, NCISM, Government of India* delivered the Presidential Address.
The *Chief Guest, Dr. Maneesha Upendra Kothekar, Chairperson, National Commission for Indian System of Medicine, Government of India* addressed the gathering and emphasized the need for strengthening competency-based education in Siddha, Unani and Sowa-Rigpa systems.
*Prof. Dr. P. Arulmozhi, UG Dean (i/c), National Institute of Siddha* proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Dignitaries were felicitated during the ceremony. Faculty members, scholars, and students of National Institute of Siddha participated in large numbers.
The UTKARSH Regional Workshop aims to orient faculty and academicians on implementation of Competency Based Dynamic Curriculum to enhance quality of education and clinical training in Indian System of Medicine.
