*Farmers across India to Gear up for Long Haul of Multi-Day Struggles Starting 26 November 2026*
The All-India Convention of SKM - the largest umbrella platform of kisan organisations in the country—resolved to restart massive struggles by calling upon farmers to prepare for Kisan Marches and multiple day mass actions in New Delhi and 100 spots across India starting from 26th November 2026.
The protest will not be called off until all 7 principal demands are achieved.
The convention was held on 28th July 2026 at the Civic Centre Auditorium in New Delhi with 1200 delegates. The National Convention of Workers and Farmers was held on 29th July 2026 at Talkatora Stadium attended by around 5000 leaders from trade unions and kisan organisations.
The decisive mass struggle, coordinated with Joint Platforms and organisations of workers, farmers, agricultural workers, students, youth, women and all other social sections facing the brunt of corporate attack under the NDA regime will advance based on worker-peasant unity to end the prolonged agrarian crisis and labour exploitation, and to build a modern democratic, federal, secular India.
SKM was formed in the context of the historic farmers' struggle at Delhi borders in 2020-21, which witnessed 385 days of continuous, peaceful Day and Night mass struggle and the loss of 736 martyrs.
The main demands were legally guaranteed MSP@C2+50% with procurement for all crops, comprehensive loan waiver and stopping the privatisation of electricity apart from the repeal of the 3 Farm Acts achieved on 19th November 2021.
The struggle was suspended on 11th December 2021 with the written assurance dated 9th December 2021, but it was not implemented during the last five years.
In the interim, the Modi regime has imposed the most regressive anti-worker 4 Labour Codes, repealed the historic MGNREG Act of 2005, accelerated privatisation of power through the Electricity Amendment Bill and smart meters and introduced a dangerous Seed Bill.
The latest onslaught is the duopoly – of Adani and Leap India- in the FCI silos, where 77.5% of the grains will be controlled by them, along with the curtailment of free grains under the Food Security Act. Though not a single rupee of the farmers was waived, corporate dues worth Rs. 16 lakh crores have been written off.
On top of all this, the Prime Minister is succumbing to US imperialist pressure to impose the India- US Free Trade Deal and other FTAs. This is a grave assault not only on millions of peasants and workers, but also on lakhs of Small and Medium Enterprises. As far as agriculture is concerned, FTAs are going to import cheap crops/agri products, further erode agricultural viability, capture Food processing markets and further change cropping patterns to damage food self-reliance.
On 16th January 2026, at the call of the SKM, farmers across the country took a pledge in villages to unleash consistent massive struggles until all the demands assured in writing on 9th December 2021 are achieved.
The successful General Strike on 12th February 2026, called by the Platform of Central Trade Unions and supported by the SKM was a major joint effort by workers and peasants to resist these policy onslaughts.
9th March a Worker-Farmer Parliament was conducted at Jantar Mantar. April 1st was observed as a nationwide "Black Day" to protest the official implementation of the Four Labour Codes by the Union Government. The SKM All India Convention was convened in the context of all the above developments.
*The convention adopted 7 Principal Demands:*
1. No India-US Free Trade Agreements. Repeal all Free Trade Agreements.
2. Enact Law for MSP@C2+50% with guaranteed procurement for all crops.
3. Comprehensive Loan waiver to end rural indebtedness and peasant and daily worker su***des. Provide Rs. 25 lakh compensation to each peasant su***de victim families.
