भारतीय रेलवे में सालों से कई लाख पोस्ट खाली है, जिसके कारण रेलवे की कार्य क्षमता घटा है ,जबकि रेलवे पर यात्रियों का दबाव बढ़ा है!

*उचित कर्मचारियों के न होने से घटित होने वाली यह रेलवे दुर्घटना, क्या सरकार का क्रिमिनल एक्ट नहीं है?*
क्योंकि जिस पोस्ट पर व्यक्ति कार्य करते रहना चाहिए उस पर नियुक्ति ही नहीं हो रहा है तो ऐसी घटनाएं तो होगी ही !
हकीकत तो यही है कि भाजपा न चैन से आपको जीने देगी न हीं चैन से करने देगी!
रेलवे मंत्री और प्रधानमंत्री को देश के सामने आकर इस घटना के लिए स्पष्टीकरण देना चाहिए और बताना चाहिए कि वर्तमान में रेलवे में कितना पोस्ट खाली हैं !

आज माता सावित्री बाई फुले का जन्मदिन है । माता सावित्री बाई फुले ने भारत मे सबसे पहला विद्यालय स्त्रियों के लिए खोला।

जिस समय भारत मे महिलाएं ग़ुलामों की जिंदगी जी रही थी। जब महिलाओ को शिक्षा का कोई अधिकार नहीं था । उस समय बालिकाओ के लिए विद्यालय खोलने का साहसिक कार्य माता सावित्री बाई फुले ने किया।

माता फुले ने ना सिर्फ महिलाओ के शिक्षा के लिए काम किया बल्कि उन्होंने दलित ,पिछड़ा औऱ वंचित समाज के लिए भी स्कूल खोले और उनके अंदर भी शिक्षा का अलख जगाने का काम किया ।

इस कार्य को करने के लिए उन्हें बेतहाशा पीड़ा और दर्द झेलना पड़ा । उस वक़्त के पितृसत्ता के समर्थकों और सामंती विचार के लोगो ने बालिकाओं के शिक्षा का भारी विरोध किया । यहां तक कि माता सावित्री बाई फुले को प्रताड़ित करने से लेकर उनके सामाजिक बहिष्कार तक का प्रयास किया गया । लेकिन उन्होंने अपने जीवन को एक मिशन के रूप में जिया और कभी भी अपने उसूलों से समझौता नहीं किया।

माता सावित्री बाई फुले ने अपना पूरा जीवन ही सामाज को समर्पित कर दिया । आज हम सब लोग जो भी हैं उसमे उनके किए सुधारो और प्रयासों का महत्वपूर्ण योगदान है । वास्तव में हमारे लिए आज ही शिक्षक दिवस है ।

On 5th September, the AISA Law Faculty Unit met with the Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Delhi to express students' concerns about the administration's decision to remove Legal Philosophy, including Theory of Justice and Jurisprudence II, from the law curriculum. The syllabus for this subject includes writings by John Rawls, Amartya Sen, Upendra Baxi, Ronald Dworkin, Martha Nussbaum, and Dr. Ambedkar, among many others. The subject goal is to engage with the law and its relationship to the ideas of justice, equality, and liberty. The Dean stated that the removal of subjects was due to non-availability of teaching faculty, and that the majority of the teaching staff are "guest faculty" whose tenure is limited, making it difficult to teach these subjects that require long-term engagement.

According to the Law Faculty website, the faculty is home of more than 130 teachers. On 28th December, 2021, the faculty released an notification for hiring of 106 Guest Faculty as teaching staff. The career of a guest faculty is fraught with job insecurity, salary delays, and short-term appointments. The first major casualty in all of these is student education. This government plan to run 'University on Guest Faculty' is in reality another way to further their neoliberal agenda of privatising education and providing the students with substandard education. AISA firmly believes that the struggles for the recruitment of permanent teaching faculty and for quality education are one and the same, which cannot be realised without defending public universities from neoliberal assault.

Due to the large number of students stationed off-campus, the delegation led by AISA also urged that students be given the option of filling the admission form online and course materials be made available online. The decision to remove subject from legal curriculum is aribtrary and anti-student. AISA demands the reinstatement of the subject that has been removed from the law curriculum. The idea of public university must be defended.

*AN OPEN LETTER TO THE UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION BY AISA*

Dear Law Faculty/University Administration,

We are writing this letter in deep pain, anguish, and fury. Pain because of the reported news of death by su***de of a fellow law student, anguish due to the complete disregard of the administration for student’s welfare, and fury at the way education system has been turned into an inhuman and anti-student bureaucracy run by political appointees. The reported death is the characteristic of the times and result of the institutional failing to address the concern of the students.

The first and second year students of the Faculty of Law are protesting to extend the date of examinations and increase the gap given between exams for past one week. On 4th August, Proctor Rajni Abbi, University of Delhi met with protesting students and promised that their demands will be fulfilled. However, there was no notification released to that effect and the administration willfully betrayed the faith and trust of the students. This resulted not only further degradation of students’ mental health but also compelled them to sit on a hunger strike.

In past we have repeatedly tried to remind institution of its responsibility towards student community, its absolute failure to recognize structural inequality along the lines of caste, class, gender, region etc, its apathy and non-existent mental health policy. We believe people in-charge of the institution have lost the trust of students’ community and have no moral authority to continue in their respected position. We want the institution to take responsibility of this unfortunate situation that we are faced with and the people in-charge must render their resignation to the students. This University belongs to the Students!

*We Demand:*

*• Accept the demands of the protesting students.*
*• Resignation of the people in-charge for betraying the trust of students’s community and they must take moral responsibility of this unfortunate situation.*
*• Initiate Mental Health Centre in each law centre and provide free counseling services to all the members of the institution.*
*• Implement the UGC mandated Guidelines on Safety of Students on and off Campuses of Higher Educational Institutions in full spirit.*

A lawyer whose statue faces the Dean Office, Faculty of Law, once rightly said:
*“There is a higher court than courts of justice. It’s the court of conscience. It supersedes all other courts”.*
That lawyer was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. The time has come for the institution to face accountability by the students’ community. Our demands must be accepted.
*We reiterate: This University belongs to the Students!*

AISA remembers the great social reformer Shahu Ji Maharaj on his 148th birth anniversary.

Shahu Maharaj was a pioneer in building social democracy in India and introduced various social reforms for the lower caste in pre-independence India including 50% reservation to weaker sections.

Aisa salutes on his 125th birth anniversary. Bismil and his comrade were both hanged on 19 December, 1927. He turned Bismil Azimabadi's iconic ghazal 'sarfaroshi ki tamanna' into an anthem of the freedom movement. Long live this glorious shared legacy of India's freedom movement!
