CONSUMER PROTECTION

Consumer Court is a special purpose court in India that deals with cases regarding consumer disputes, conflicts and grievances. There are judiciary hearings set up by the government to protect the consumer rights.

Cases that involve a dispute in the nature of a Consumer-Trader/Seller are heard in a Consumer Court. The cases must be either for deficiency in service, damaged goods, hazardous goods or services, unfair or restrictive trade practices,

What permissions are needed to hold a protest?

Since ‘Law and Order’ is a State subject, the permissions to organize a protest will vary from state to state. Do check the local laws before you decide to protest. Broadly:
• Ensure that you have a police permit and a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the police. In case the police feel that the protest rally or demonstration will lead to unrest and go against public order, permission can be denied.
• Mention all the details of the protest in the petition you submit to the police.
• These must include the reason for the protest, its date and duration, the number of people expected to participate, and the route that the protestors will undertake.
• Also remember to include your name, address, and phone number.
• The documents that must be furnished include proof of identity, proof of residence, a photograph, and an affidavit.
Article 19(1)(3) says this right is subject to “reasonable restrictions” in the interest of public order.'

Yes,
Freedom of expression in India. The Constitution of India provides the right of freedom, given in article 19 with the view of guaranteeing individual rights that were considered vital by the framers of the constitution.
The right to protest peacefully is enshrined in the Indian Constitution—Article 19(1)(a) guarantees the freedom of speech and expression; Article 19(1)(b) assures citizens the right to assemble peaceably and without arms.

PERSON ARRESTED TO BE INFORMED OF THE RIGHT TO BAIL
Section 50(2) provides that any person arrested without warrant shall be immediately informed of the grounds of his arrest, and if the arrest is made in a bailable case, the person shall be informed of his right to be released on bails. Section 50 is mandatory and carries out the mandate of Article 22(1) of the Constitution of India.

What is arrest?

Generally, a person who breaks the law is arrested. So, what is arrest? In general term, ‘arrest’ would mean that when a person is arrested they lose some of their freedom and liberty. They are put under restraint.

The Criminal Procedure Code of 1973, however, that deals with the aspects of arrests, has not defined the ‘Arrest’. When a person is arrested, then the arrested person is taken into custody of an authority empowered by the law for detaining the person. The person is then asked to answer the charges against him and he is detained so that no further crime is committed.
