In the remote village of Margi, tucked away between uneven fields and broken roads, time seems to move slower. After the recent floods, the people of Margi were left stranded, cut off from the nearest town, without medical aid, electricity, or the most basic facilities. When our Miles2Smile team began its rounds of post-flood relief work there, we thought we had seen most of the damage: submerged homes, destroyed crops, and weary faces. But sometimes, the deepest wounds are found in the smallest stories.

As our volunteers moved from one house to another, distributing food packets and hygiene kits, a worried father approached them. He was holding his little daughter, barely three years old, her right leg wrapped hastily in a piece of cloth. The child’s eyes were filled with pain and confusion, her small face pale from fever and fright. The father’s trembling voice broke as she explained that the little girl had been accidentally burned by hot tea a few days earlier.

In Margi, there is no hospital. No doctor visits. The roads to the nearest clinic had been washed away by the floods. For days, the family had been trying to treat the wound at home, cleaning it with whatever they could find. The pain had only worsened. They had lost hope.

But when they saw our Miles2Smile team walking through the village, they remembered hearing about us before about the work we had done for flood victims in nearby areas, about how we bring food, medicine, and dignity where help rarely reaches. And so, they trusted us first.

Without wasting a moment, our team sprang into action. One of our volunteers, got them in touch with doctors where trained individuals in first aid, gently unwrapped the cloth and cleaned the burn using sterile water and antiseptic. Another professional fetched emergency medical kit, applying burn ointment and dressing the wound carefully while the child whimpered softly.

We reassured the parents that we would not leave them alone.
That evening, we coordinated with our local network to arrange further medical support from a nearby town. We ensured that the child received antibiotics, pain relief, and follow-up care. Our team visited again the next morni

When the flash floods and cloudbursts struck on the 26th of August, the waters swallowed everything in their path, homes, shops, and dreams alike. Among the many who lost their livelihood was Akhtar Hussain, a hardworking shopkeeper whose small business was his family’s only source of income.

His shop was more than a place of work; it was his connection to the world. In a village where the nearest bank is 15 kilometers away, Akhtar helped people withdraw cash, book tickets, and manage their daily needs. But the floods showed no mercy, his entire shop, along with all his equipment, was swept away overnight.

When our Miles2Smile team arrived for flood relief, we found Akhtar standing before the wreckage of his shop, silent, uncertain, yet hopeful. He told us how he had no funds left to rebuild, no means to start again. His livelihood had been reduced to debris.

Moved by his story, Miles2Smile decided to help him rebuild. We provided a laptop and printer, the essential tools he needed to restart his work and rebuilt his shop. For Akhtar, it wasn’t just equipment, it was dignity restored.

Today, Akhtar is back at work, serving his community once again. With a humble smile, he says that Miles2Smile helped him “stand on his feet” when everything around him had fallen.

And that’s what we strive for, to turn despair into hope, and to rebuild lives, one smile at a time.

In the serene yet vulnerable valley of Warwan, nature’s fury has left one family shattered. Mohd Ramzan, son of GH Mohd Lone, has lost his home to devastating landslides that destroyed everything he and his family had built. Today, they are left with nothing but memories and a longing for shelter.

A safe home is more than bricks and mortar it is a place of dignity, warmth, and hope. For Mohd Ramzan and his family, rebuilding means restoring their sense of security, their daily life, and their dreams for the future.

We aim to raise ₹2.5 lakhs to renovate their home and give this family a chance to start over with safety and stability.

Every contribution, no matter the size, is a step toward giving them back the life they deserve.

Let’s stand together for Mohd Ramzan and show that even amidst calamity, humanity and compassion prevail.

Donate now and be a part of their new beginning.

The Family of Mohammad Shaban Lone and Zoona Begum — Living with Dignity Amidst Disability**

In the remote corners of Kashmir, where the landscape is breathtaking yet life remains unforgiving, lives the family of Mohammad Shaban Lone and his mother Zoona Begum a family whose days unfold in quiet struggle and quiet strength.

Zoona Begum, now elderly, shoulders the dual weight of poverty and care. Her son, Mohammad Shaban, lives with a physical disability that makes even basic tasks a challenge. Her other son lives separately, detached from the hardship that defines their lives. Together, Zoona and Shaban have learned to live with less — less food, less warmth, less comfort — but never less dignity.

In a world where disability often invites neglect, their story stands as a stark reflection of systemic gaps that leave the most vulnerable unseen. Rural healthcare remains out of reach; livelihood opportunities are scarce. Survival depends not only on endurance but also on the kindness of those who remember them.

When Miles2Smile reached out, it was not just with rations and clothing, but with recognition, a gentle assurance that their pain had not been forgotten. For Zoona, the visit brought tears of relief; for Shaban, a faint smile that lit up his otherwise quiet face.

Their home, though modest and worn, held something profound that day — the warmth of being remembered.

At Miles2Smile, every such story reminds us that dignity is not a luxury — it’s a right. And sometimes, dignity begins with a simple knock at the door, a bag of food, and the assurance: you are not alone.

In the silent valley of Warwan, where mountains guard stories of loss and resilience, winter arrives like an old, unkind friend. ❄️

When our team reached Margi village, the cold had already begun to bite. Inside mud homes, mothers wrapped their children in thin shawls, unsure how they’d survive the months ahead. We couldn’t walk away from that.

So, we reached 57 families, handing them kits filled with warm blankets, bedding, ration, utensils, and clothes small bundles of comfort stitched with hope. From the leftover materials, we created 15 more kits, making sure no home went empty-handed.

Among those we met were 13 widowed women, each carrying her world on fragile shoulders. Their gratitude, quiet yet profound, reminded us that kindness is not about how much we give but how deeply we care.

> “Every blanket we hand over,” a volunteer said, “feels like wrapping someone in a prayer.” 🕊️

As the snow closes in, and roads to Warwan begin to disappear, we need your warmth to reach where ours can’t. Let’s keep these families safe, fed, and remembered this winter.

In the serene yet scarred Warwan Valley, where the echoes of a recent cloudburst still linger, Miles2Smile stood beside the women who bore the brunt of loss with quiet strength. Our Women’s Relief Drive began on September 29, 2025, bringing hygiene kits and care to those rebuilding their lives. Each kit, thoughtfully designed by our healthcare team, carried more than essentials it carried dignity and hope.

Two days later, faith filled the valley once again as 80 women gathered in a circle of strength and spirituality. Guided by local volunteer Naima Akhtar, the session went beyond hygiene it became a space for healing, remembrance, and reconnection with Allah. As Nadiya Banoo Sheikh’s Naat resonated through the mountains, faith became the light that outshone despair.

In every effort, every conversation, and every smile shared, Miles2Smile continues to stand for women’s dignity, faith, and wellbeing even in the most fragile moments.

On 28th September, during our relief work in Warwan Margi, Miles2Smile organized a drawing competition and distributed stationery kits to 40 children.

This valley, often cut off from the rest of the world, is home to some of the most innocent yet incredibly intelligent children we have met. Their curiosity and joy reaffirm our belief that every child deserves access to quality education, no matter how remote their home may be.

That is why, alongside our relief initiatives, we are also working towards opening a Learning Centre in Warwan Valley, in shaa Allah, a space where these bright young minds can continue to grow, learn, and dream without barriers.

“We have nothing to eat, no roof over our heads, and are left to sleep in the cold mud. Should we save our lives or our masjid?” asked the imam of Warwan’s Jama Masjid, his voice breaking with grief.

On the 26th of August, a sudden cloudburst tore through this serene valley in Kashmir. Families fled in panic, only to return to devastation homes swallowed by mud, and their masjid buried under stones. The carpets once spread for children to learn the Quran lie drenched and ruined; the walls that once embraced 400 worshippers now stand cracked and unsteady; and the imam himself spends his nights without shelter.

With winter approaching, hunger grows sharper, nights colder, and resilience harder to hold onto. All they ask for is not luxury but a place where prayers can rise again, a roof that shields them from the frost, and the comfort of knowing they are not forgotten.

It’s day 11th & we are still here, still standing with the people of Warwan valley.

For the past 11 days, Team miles2smile has been on the ground, walking through mud, crossing broken roads, reaching some of the most neglected places and people of Warwan valley.

On round two of team miles2smile we have treated over 200+ families, bringing medical care to those who had no access to doctors for weeks.

This time we especially focused on women’s health & hygiene, distributing women’s hygiene kits to ensure every woman has the right to dignity and it isn’t merely a privilege.

We also distributed blankets, ration & utensils for need so that family can sleep warm, cook their meals and reclaim normalcy.

We might have started as an emergency response but this project has become a mission for us, to remind this valley that they are not forgotten, not abandoned & not alone.

This is only day 11, stand with us because we are not done yet.

Sometimes, it is the smallest of acts that touch our hearts the deepest. In Insan Valley, we witnessed this when Imtiaz, despite his own home being half-buried in flood-borne mud, opened his doors and welcomed us with trust and kindness.

He allowed his home to become the site of our medical and relief camp, where nearly 300 patients across all ages received treatment for long-neglected health concerns.

Our journey with Imtiaz didn’t end there. We supported the reconstruction of his partially buried home, restoring safety and dignity for his family. And because true recovery is about rebuilding lives as much as homes, we are also establishing a learning center within his house, a space where children affected by the disaster can find education, healing, and hope.

Imtiaz’s resilience and generosity remind us that even in loss, humanity shines through.
Stay tuned for more stories of courage and update on our learning center! ✨

We have been there with aid, medicine, and smiles but many remote villages remain unseen.

This winter, we are doing more. Together with Better Hope NGO, we’re launching a Winter Clothes Drive.

During our flood relief in Jammu, we discovered that even in the middle of loss, resilience and kindness can shine the brightest. In Shajroo, a small madrasa welcomed us without hesitation and became the shelter where our second medical camp came to life. The walls were damp and the classrooms still smelled of rain, yet the spirit inside carried strength and warmth.

By the morning of 11th September, forty five children stood in line for medical attention. Their books were wet, their slippers were muddy, but their smiles were radiant. Each child reminded us that hope cannot be washed away by the floods. It survives in the laughter of children, in their determination to keep learning, and in their courage to move forward.

That day, Jamia Abu Bakar Sadiq was no longer just a madrasa. It became a symbol of healing and resilience, a place where care was offered in the form of medicine and attention, and where every child was seen, heard and valued. In the face of broken homes and uncertain tomorrows, these children taught us a simple but profound truth. Hope survives, and sometimes it only needs a safe space to grow.
