National Disaster Management Authority, India conducts a technical seminar cm interaction meet on the various technologies options being utilized for the EWDS project along with the discussion on CAP & ERSS projects with presentations from stakeholders and representatives from C-DOT, C-DAC, etc.

➡️The purpose of the meeting is to examine the various functionalities being provided under these projects, especially with a view on cost management and maintainable features.

BME Study under NCRMP Phase II

Benefit Monitoring & Evaluation (BME) study is to monitor and evaluate the outcomes/results of the project interventions in six coastal States vulnerable to cyclone.

The objective of the Study is to undertake Benefit Monitoring & Evaluation in two stages at Mid-term (Mid-term evaluation) & End –term (End-term evaluation) compared to the baseline.The study will incorporate both qualitative & quantitative analysis.

The Study is under progress in six States of NCRMP Phase II.

Design of National Seismic Risk Mitigation Programme (NSRMP) under NCRMP

Coverage: 9 States/Union territories, viz; Assam, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, Meghalaya, Tripura, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh .

The Objective is to reduce vulnerability of communities and their assets to natural disaster by taking appropriate mitigating measures and to strengthen the capacity of National and State entities to effectively plan for and respond to earthquakes.

Components of NSRMP:
A: Design Earthquake Early Warning Dissemination System and enhance emergency response capacity of local governments and other agencies.
B: Retrofitting of critical buildings, retrofitting/constructing critical links on Evacuation Routes (Roads, Bridges, Landing Strips, & Helipads), and Technology Demonstration Units (TDU) for School, Hospital, etc.
C: Technical Assistance to improve Disaster Risk Reduction/ Management.
D: Project Management and monitoring, Development of (a) Environment & Social Management Framework (ESMF), (b) Management Information System (MIS), (c) Procurement & Financial Management System.

The work has been assigned to a Consulting Firm.

Development of Hydro-meteorological Resilience Action Plan (HmRAP) under NCRMP:

• HmRAP is being developed in six cities; (i) Panaji (Goa) (ii) Ratnagiri (Maharashtra) (iii) Mangalore (Karnataka) (iv) Kochi ( Kerala) (v) Porbandar (Gujarat) and (vi) Bidhan Nagar (West Bengal).
• HmRAP will improve city’s resilience and reduce risks to hydromet related hazards. It would identify specific issues and propose key actions to be implemented for strengthening the hydromet information base and improving resilience of urban services delivery. It would also become basis for developing investment frameworks for climate resilient cities.
• The work has been assigned to a Consulting Firm on 13th August 2020.

Development of Web-Dynamics Composite Risk Atlas & DSS Tool for 13 Coastal States/UT under NCRMP.
The Web-DCRA model outputs would include (a) Wind Hazard Map showing Model Simulated Maximum Sustained Wind Speeds and Affected Populations, (b) Surge Hazard Map showing Storm Surge Heights across different coastal districts, and (c) Flood Hazard Map for Flood Inundation extent/depth across affected coastal Districts. The Model is currently in Testing/Experimental Phase. The Web-DCRA & DSS Tool will be hosted at IMD.
