System strengthening of sub-transmission and distribution networks under the IPDS has been completed in over 70 circles covering over 500 towns.

Total funds investment under the IPDS by GOI in this period is around Rs.3800 Cr. with additional Rs. 2,290 Cr released as GOI grant from MOP.

Overall IPDS has contributed to an increase in hours of Power supply in urban areas to 22 hours/day and improved consumer convenience through Digital payments and Smart meters.

The aims and objectives of installing Smart Meters is to enable seamless online billing process & digital payment of bills for consumers.

Smart Meters will play a pivotal role in the integration of renewable power; helping DISCOMs function remotely by eliminating manual collections and reduced AT&C losses.

7 YEARS OF IPDS!

Under the Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS) India's Power Infrastructure has grown at a rapid pace.

IPDS has provided Power sector a strong foundation for continued expansion and growth.

Consumer convenience through Smart Meters and Digital payments has also improved under IPDS.
