DYFI Extends Relief to Flood-Affected Areas of Upper Assam
The first phase of a relief campaign was launched today in the flood-ravaged districts of Sivasagar and Jorhat under the initiative of the DYFI State Committee, in cooperation with the respective District Committees.
The relief team was led by DYFI State Secretary Nirangkush Nath and included State Treasurer Bhaswati Goswami, State Committee member Biswajit Bora, and member Sanjib Baishya.
In Jorhat district, the campaign was supported by District Secretary as well as State Secretariat member Nomal Chawra, District President as well as State Committee member Ankujyoti Bora, District Committee member Rituporna Goswami, along with a large number of DYFI and SFI members from the district.
DYFI distributed essential relief materials, including dry food, drinking water, bleaching powder, phenyl, mosquito-repellent incense sticks, sanitary napkins, soap, detergent, and biscuits to the affected people.
The three Upper Assam districts—Jorhat, Sivasagar and Charaideo, —have been severely affected by the devastating floods. More than 100 people have lost their lives, while around 650,000 people have been affected. Many people are still reported missing.
