The National Day of Moroccan Diplomacy is celebrated every 26th April. This year’s celebration, commemorating the 70th anniversary, provides an opportunity to highlight the multiple achievements and successes of the Kingdom’s diplomacy on the international arena.

It is a matter of pride to celebrate the rich and long history, for cenruries, of the Moroccan diplomacy. Indeed, as early as the 1600 AD. H.E. Abdallah Ben Messaoud Anoune, was appointed Ambassador of His Majesty the Sultan/King Ahmad Al-Mansour to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth I of England. This illustrates the depth and longstanding tradition of Moroccan diplomacy. Mr Anoune was one among many more Ambasadors, few of whom are illustrated in the photos.

This occasion also serves to highlight the role of women in the Moroccan diplomacy. The parity between men and women of the diplomatic corps has seen a notable progress: women now represent 43% of the Ministry’s workforce, hold 40% of leadership positions, and account for 21% of ambassadorial posts, exceeding the global average. This progress is also reflected in consular services, where women make up 37% of Consuls General.

These significant advances are the result of the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, in promoting equality and strengthening the role of women in decision-making spheres.

Thus, the National Day of Moroccan Diplomacy is not only a moment of celebration, but also an affirmation of Morocco’s historical soft power, contemporary influence as well as its steadfast commitment to peace regionally and internationally, dialogue, and international cooperation.
