The Youth summit is going on, our young leaders have been discussing on issues of Displacement, Poverty and Hunger, and gender equality. In india the 85% of youth belong to the marginalized communities. Sashikala from NACDOR pointed out how in media sector woman are never identified, and hidden in the media discourse. Ms. Supriya Singh from India Youth Climate Network pointed put how climate change have been mostly affected the life of dalit and adivasis, who are the the first in line to be affected by these changes. The Summit is going on with a strong !! Thousands of youth are partecipating in these important discussions.

The young and dynamic leaders of YOUTH DIGNITY FORUM the young wing of NACDOR has fully geared up to mobilize more than 10.000 youth and students across the country to ensure that the voices of the socially excluded youths are counted in Sustainable Development Goals.

A delegation led by National Confederations of Dalit Organization (NACDOR) met Minister of Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram, Government of India on 22nd July 2015 in his Delhi residence office and submitted a memorandum of demand on inclusion of Adivasis and Dalits in implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The delegation comprised of Shri Ashok Kumar Mallik President of NACDOR- Odisha Chapter, Mr. Pramod Kumar Dev Adivasi and Dalit Rights activist, Mr. Brundavan Nayak and Mr. Sukanta Chandra Behera- Team leader of NACDOR.

The meeting with the honorable minister was held in the context of Social Development Goals and role of Ministry of Tribal Affairs Minister in following the commitment that Government of India made in the third International Conference on Financing for Development was held in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia from 13th to 16th July in which high-level political representatives, including Heads of State and Government, and Ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation, as well as all relevant institutional stakeholders, non-governmental organizations and business sector participated and agreed to contribute to and support the implementation of the post-2015 development agenda.(SDGs). On the global day of action, 11 July 2015, thousands of people from marginalized communities, dalit, advasis and others took the streets expressing their concern on the need to finance their future and tackle tax injustice to not leave any one behind!!! Our districts and state level leaders mobilized the marginalized communities and submitted the memorandum demands to government of India through the local administration. In addition to this signature campaigns were organized in state like Haryana, Bihar and Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Odisha. Action/2015

NACDOR and SETF on 11th July, in occasion of the Finance for Development summit in Addis, organized a wonderful cultural program at Jantar Mantar! Although the rain did not stop, we also did not stop and we continue we carried on with our program, showing our commitments in expressing our concern on SDGs implementation and on the real necessity to finance the future of all youth, children and all, to not leave any one behind!!! Consider for a moment India’s Dalits, or “untouchables,” and African Americans.

Racial inequality in America has its parallel in caste inequality in India even though by definition, race and caste are not the same thing. The story of one struggle for social justice can illuminate the pitfalls and prospects of success of another.

As a researcher in applied ethics, human rights and global development studies, I am leading an ongoing research effort that will compare and contrast the nature of exclusion and marginalization faced by African Americans and Dalit Indians in their respective historical and contemporary contexts.
