There is no greater religion than serving humanity and helping those in need. Goswami Tulsidas, in the Ramcharitmanas, also described benevolence as the highest virtue and causing pain to others as the greatest wrongdoing. The Scouts and Guides movement similarly inspires young people to work with a spirit of service, discipline and social responsibility.

These views were expressed by Dr. Raj K.P. Sinha, National Commissioner of The Scouts/Guides Organisation, while addressing the ‘Pre-Wood Badge Training Camp’ in New Delhi. The ten-day training camp was attended by trainees who came from different parts of the country.

Renowned mentor and India’s first female Lieutenant, Rita Gangwani, was the Chief Guest at the ceremony. She presented certificates to the trainees and congratulated them on successfully completing their training.

Officials and members of the Scouts/Guides Organisation, including Officer on Special Duty Punish Khurana, OSD Vishal Singh, Assistant Commissioner Suresh Chandra and Anuj Sharma, among others, were present at the event. STC Laxman Chaudhary supervised the training operations.

During the ceremony, Bihar Guide Captain Shreya and her group presented a special song dedicated to the famous Chhath Puja, which captivated the audience.

The programme emphasised the importance of service, nation-building, discipline and social responsibility among young people. The training camp provided participants with an opportunity to develop leadership skills and understand their responsibilities towards society and the nation.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Poorva Dhamija, Director of the Organisation, expressed gratitude to the guests, participants, trainers and all those who contributed to the successful completion of the training camp.

The Scouts and Guides movement continues to focus on developing leadership, discipline, self-reliance and a strong spirit of community service among young people, helping them become responsible citizens and contribute positively to nation-building.
