Celebrating the Birth Anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan 📚🪔
On the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Central Secretariat Library (CSL), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, organised a Book Exhibition and Release Bibliography showcasing books written by Dr. Radhakrishnan and works dedicated to his life, philosophy and contributions.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Dr. Ajit Kumar, Director, Central Secretariat Library, through the ceremonial Deep Prajwalan.
The occasion was graced by the presence of CSL staff and library users, who joined in remembering the great philosopher, scholar, educationist and former President of India.
Dr. Radhakrishnan’s profound contribution to education, philosophy and public life continues to inspire generations.

The Central Secretariat Library, Ministry of Culture, New Delhi Organized Author meet and book discussion entitled “Electoral Politics and Hindu Nationalism in India. The Bharatiya Jan Sangh 1951-1971” on 27 August 2026 Dated 27/08/2026
The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Ajit Kumar, director, CSL, who highlighted the facts, how author get a interested to do research work on this subject elaborated in the book and brief outline of book was elaborated.
Guest of Honour of the Event Prof. Sudhir Singh, Department of Political Science, University of Delhi, enriched the discussion with his academic perspective on the relationship between political ideas, electoral processes and the changing contours of Indian democracy. His observations helped place the subject within a wider political and constitutional framework.
The author of Book Prof. Koushiki Dasgupta, Vidyasagar Chair Professor, Department of History, Vidyasagar University, brought a valuable historical perspective to the discussion. Her scholarly insights illuminated the political developments of the period 1951–71, helping the audience appreciate the historical forces and electoral dynamics discussed in the book. She also stated that the new generation can do the more research work of Bhartiya Jan-Sangh.
The chief guest of this event Prof. (Dr.) K. G. Suresh, Director, India Habitat Centre, highlighted the significance of understanding electoral politics through the lens of history, institutions and evolving political thought. His insightful observations added depth to the discussion and connected the historical journey of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh with the broader evolution of Indian electoral politics. He shares his personal experience which are Significant and useful for the present situation
The programme witnessed an engaging exchange of ideas, with all the speakers sharing their perspectives on the themes explored in the book.
Lastly, Dr. Y. A. Rao delivered the Vote of Thanks, expressing gratitude to the distinguished guests, speaker, participants and everyone who contributed to the successful organisation of the programme.
The event concluded on a note of appreciation and reflection, reaffirming the Central Secretariat Library’s commitment to fostering reading, scholarship, dialogue and informed engagement with books and ideas. Celebrating Librarian’s Day @ IGNCA
The Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) organised “Celebrating Librarian’s Day @ IGNCA” on 12 August 2026 at Umang Hall, IGNCA at 10:00 a.m.
Dr. Ajit Kumar, Director, Central Secretariat Library, Ministry of Culture, was invited as the Guest of Honour and delivered an address highlighting the evolving role of libraries and library professionals in the contemporary knowledge ecosystem.
In his address, Dr. Ajit Kumar highlighted the enduring contributions of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan and his holistic approach towards the development of Library and Information Science in India. He emphasised the effective use and promotion of online resources to enhance users’ access to information and knowledge. He also underlined the need to strengthen library–user engagement through innovative services and digital initiatives. The address highlighted the evolving role of libraries in connecting users with relevant knowledge resources. He further emphasised how libraries and librarians can contribute meaningfully to the Viksit Bharat 2047 mission by fostering a knowledge-driven and informed society.
The programme commenced with the felicitation of guests, followed by the Welcome Address by Prof. K. Anil Kumar, HoD, Kalanidhi. The session also included an interactive engagement with participants, concluding remarks and a Vote of Thanks.
The programme provided an enriching platform for interaction and reflection on the significance of libraries and the vital role of library professionals in facilitating access to knowledge, information and cultural resources.

Central Secretariat Library (CSL) organised a Tiranga Yatra at Shastri Bhawan. The Tiranga Yatra was led by Dr. Ajit Kumar, Director, Central Secretariat Library. The CSL officials and Library Intern participate enthusiastically raised patriotic slogans such as “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, spreading the spirit of patriotism and national pride. 🇮🇳
To commemorate Independence Day, a special book exhibition was also organised, showcasing books related to the nation, the freedom struggle and patriotism.

The Central Secretariat Library, Ministry of Culture, organized a programme to celebrate National Librarians’ Day 2026 on the occasion of the Birth Anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan, the Father of Library Science in India, on 12th August 2026 at the Conference Hall, Central Secretariat Library, G-Wing, Shastri Bhawan, New Delhi. The programme was organized on the theme “Empowering Libraries, Enriching Communities.”
Dr. Nabi Hasan, Librarian & Head, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Dr. Kumar Sanjay, Director (Library), NITI Aayog, New Delhi; and Dr. Kripa Nand Jha, Assistant Professor D.L.I.S. Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University, were invited as distinguished speakers. Dr. Ajit Kumar, Director, Central Secretariat Library, Ministry of Culture, attended the programme virtually and Dr. Y. A. Rao served as the Convener of the programme.
The key pointshighlighted during the programme included:
