Shockwave of an exploding seen for the first time

It lasted only 20 minutes and took place 1.2 billion light years away, but managed to catch it on camera: a star exploding.
The brilliant flash of an exploding star's shockwave - or "shock breakout" -- has been captured for the first time in visible light by the Kepler space telescope.
An international team of researchers analyzed some 50 trillion stars photographed by Kepler over a three-year period, searching for supernovae.
A supernova occurs at the end of a massive star's life, as a colossal, catastrophic explosion erupts, causing the star to burn brighter than some galaxies for around two weeks before fading to black.
The team analyzing the Kepler data found exactly what they were looking for: a red supergiant 500 times the size of our sun and around 1.2 billion light years away exploded while in the telescope's view.
Lead researcher Peter Garnavich, an astrophysics professor at the University of Notre Dame, said in a statement that the star is so colossal that "Earth's orbit around the sun would fit comfortably within (it)."

confirms first case of virus

Bangladesh confirmed on 22 March 2016 its first case of the Zika virus in an old sample of blood from a 67-year old man who had not been overseas, health ministry officials said.
The man lives in southeastern port city of and was well. None of his relatives had tested positive.
The Zika outbreak is affecting large parts of Latin America and the Caribbean, with Brazil the hardest hit. It is likely to spread to all countries in the Americas except for Canada and Chile, the World Health Organization ( ) has said. The WHO estimates Zika could eventually affect as many as 4 million people in the region.
Some cases have been found in Asia.
Zika is carried by mosquitoes that transmit the virus to humans and it has been linked to a spike in microcephaly, a rare birth defect, in Brazil. The WHO declared the Zika outbreak an international health emergency on February 1, citing a "strongly suspected" relationship between Zika infection in pregnancy and microcephaly, which can result in developmental problems.
However, much remains unknown about Zika, including whether the virus actually causes microcephaly in babies.
Brazil said it has confirmed more than 860 cases of microcephaly, and considers most of them to be related to Zika infections in the mothers. Brazil is investigating more than 4,200 additional suspected cases of microcephaly.
