The Environmental Information System (ENVIS) network was established in December 1982 as a plan programme under the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), Government of India with the objective of collection and dissemination of information in order to support and promote research, development and innovation among researchers, policy makers, academicians and other stakeholders. TERI has been

hosting the ENVIS Centre on Renewable Energy and Environment since July 1984 since 2019 theme changed to Renewable Energy & Climate Change. The major objectives of the Centre are collection and dissemination of information in order to support and promote research, development and innovation among researcher, policy makers, academicians and other stakeholders. The Centre is presently located within the TERI Library and Information C enter, Knowledge Management Division as a dedicated Centre for environmental information collection, collation and dissemination. The Centre has identified gaps in the data in the renewable energy and environmental sectors. These gaps exist mainly in the following areas environmental impact of power, renewable energy and transport, pollution control technologies, hazardous waste management, environmental laws and regulations, environmental economics, environmental planning, management and policies.

The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has prepared an amendment to the Environment Protection Act, 1986 to impose fines of up to Rs 1 crore on polluters without going through a judicial process prescribed in the law at present. Currently, the maximum fine that can be imposed on a polluting industry or other entities is Rs 1 lakh along with a jail sentence of up to five years. This, too, requires the government agencies to first file a complaint with a magistrate at the district level and secure a favourable order against the polluter. In 2016, the government had informed the Supreme Court that it had not been able to jail any polluter for several years under these provisions and a maximum fine of Rs 25,000 had been imposed in a few cases.

The Niti Aayog, in its Draft Three Year Action Agenda, has drawn attention to the need for a sustainable plan for solid waste management in Indian cities. However, the Aayog has taken the stand that incineration or “Waste to Energy” is the best option as a sustainable disposal solution for the solid waste of larger cities. The contention is that biogas and composting for waste management generate by-products or residues in large volumes that larger cities will find difficult to dispose of efficiently. The Niti Aayog fails to point out that when incineration plants in cities use unsegregated waste to generate electricity, they emit toxic gases as by-products and irresponsibly dispose of these “dangerous by-products” in the air. When we do not have effective mechanisms for monitoring emissions, the health hazard becomes even more challenging.

Solar power tariffs appear to be on a free fall in India to find a new floor at Rs 2.62 per unit, some 18% lower than the average price of Rs 3.20 charged by India's largest generation utility NTPC for electricity generated by its coal-fired plants. The historic low was quoted by Phelan Energy and Avaada Power during bidding for packages of 50 MW and 100 MW, respectively, of the fourth phase of Bhadla solar power project in Rajasthan.

India is making a big push for solar energy, with power capacity expected to double this year. But some of the gains, especially in north India, could be offset by a growing problem: air pollution. A new study, the first of its kind in India and one of a handful globally, has found that dust and particulate matter (PM) may be reducing the energy yield of solar power systems in north India by 17%-25 % annually.

I am Lalit Chudiwala from Delhi and I'm involved in a scientific research from the past 9 years and I've developed a concept for producing very high amount of energy at low cost on the principles of a free Radical Chain Reaction.
Application : Produce energy for thermal power Stations.

Present Status
Steps already taken:
1) Solved the Chemical Reaction
2) Reference papers to support this Reaction
3) Simulation Data
4) Developed the Prototype Design on Papers

Steps to be taken:
Physical development of the Prototype

As we need new sources of cheap, eco-friendly and sustainable energy, this invention is the perfect solution for all.

To move forward, I need funds/a team/ a Lab to develop the prototype. As a matter of fact I don't have any strong Educational /Scientific background. Although, many scientists are already taking interest in my invention but this project needs very high level of scientific knowledge. I'm also seeking out for enough funds and space for the advancement of the project.

Looking forward for you to take ample interest in my project and help me fulfill my dream of helping the world to reduce carbon emission with my invention as much as possible.Check my project at Researchgate site by searching my name Lalit Chudiwala..or send me your email id...

Hoping for an early reply.

Think of a world where there is only clean air, every individual is employed and able to make their living. Think of a time when each person will sleep well fed. Seems quite optimistic. Right!?
Above all, to add to it, think of clean energy being a driving force for it.

We had similar dilemmas.
Hence, SDG-7 is coming up with their next UN 75 Dialogue on the
Theme: *Clean Energy Enterprenuerships and Livelihood opportunities*
We wish to understand the myriad ways in which clean energy can facilitate livelihood opportunities and entreprenuerships for a better world in 2045.

For the session, we are extremely honored to have the following distinguished panelists -
*Mr. Rajnish Jain*, CEO and Founder, Avani Bioenergy
_and_
*Mr. Raghunath K. R*, Founder & CEO-KIS group

We are delighted to host the session, and invite interested participants to be a part of this intriguing and insightful session to lead and gain insights from our panelists who are already doing great work.
