H.E Mr. Gilbert S. Mangole participated in a seminar on how the Africa Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) can assist African companies to forge extensive partnerships with the Indian trade community.
The seminar was hosted on 15th April 2021 by the India Africa Trade Council. His Excellency Mangole gave a short presentation on 'The Evolution of Botswana's Trade Policy through AfCFTA', as part of the Mission's efforts to foster deeper collaboration between Botswana and our strategic partners.
Public Advisory regarding COVID-19 testing and travel to Botswana
Restrictions on international travel to/from Botswana will be gradually lifted from the 9th November to the 1st of December 2020.

GOVERNMENT’S POSITION ON REPATRIATION OF BATSWANA IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES AMIDST COVID-19
GABORONE, 15th June 2020
The Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation wishes to reiterate that the Government of Botswana remains committed to safeguard the welfare of Batswana in foreign countries through the provision of consular services and support through the Botswana diplomatic missions. This includes facilitation of repatriation, where possible.
To date, the Ministry has facilitated the safe return of over 500 Batswana, including those who were stranded in South Africa, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and in various other countries overseas. Those facilitated from overseas, were part of the 94 nationals who recently returned home, on board a chartered Ethiopian Airline flight, on 3rd June 2020. It should be noted that the costs of the flight to Botswana were borne by the passengers.
The Ministry wishes to inform that these support services will continue to be provided through the twenty-three (23) Botswana Diplomatic Missions abroad. However, it should be noted that due to budgetary constraints it will no longer be possible for the Government of Botswana to charter any more relief flights.
Nonetheless, the Ministry will through the Botswana Diplomatic Missions continue to engage with other governments and airlines, and advise Batswana who wish to return home on the availability of flights coming to the region. Further information on these services can be obtained from the Botswana Missions abroad and the Department of Protocol and Consular Services at the Ministry’s Headquarters.
The Ministry further wishes to encourage Batswana to always register with the nearest Botswana Diplomatic Missions whenever the travel abroad, and to ensure that travel insurance is built into the costs of their journeys.
The Public is also reminded that COVID- 19 protocols remain in effect in Botswana and neighbouring countries. Batswana traveling from or transiting through neighbouring countries are therefore required to fully comply with these measures by among others securing the relevant travel permits. Such permits should be applied for through the Botswana Diplomatic Missions in the respective country, and should be secured prior to the trip back to Botswana.

The High Commission of Botswana wishes to inform the public of the following measures being taken by the Government of Botswana in order to curb the transmission and spread of COVID-19 in Botswana, in light of recent global developments;
*All individuals travelling to Botswana from the following high risk countries will not be allowed entry:
China, Japan, South Korea, Iran, USA, UK, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and India.
Botswana citizens and residents returning from high risk countries will be subjected to a 14 day mandatory quarantine, as per protocol.
*Furthermore, the issuance of Visa at ports of entry and at all diplomatic missions for any individual coming from a high risk area is suspended; current visas are cancelled with immediate effect until further notice.

NOTICE OF POLL
All citizens of Botswana who are registered to vote in the Republic of India for the 2019 General Elections are advised that voting shall be held on Saturday 12th October, 2019.
Polling stations: New Delhi and Mumbai
Time: 09h00 to 17h00.
Voters will cast their vote at the polling stations at which they are registered.
Additionally, voters are kindly reminded to bring their voter cards and valid national identity cards.
SUPPLEMENTARY VOTER REGISTRATION FOR BOTSWANA 2019 GENERAL ELECTIONS

BOTSWANA-INDIA YOUTH DIALOGUE 2018
On 11th September 2018, the High Commission in collaboration with the Confederation of Young Leaders India Youth Foundation held a first of its kind, the Botswana-India Youth Dialogue, with an effort to exchange information on youth related matters such as in education, tourism, culture and trade & investment between the two countries. The dialogue served as a great opportunity for young Indians to learn more about Botswana while understanding and linking it to their aspiration and vision.

The General Voter Registration is conducted at the High Commission in New Delhi, and at the Botswana Trade and Investment Centre Polling Station located at No. 43, Maker Chamber VI Nariman Point, Mumbai 400021, on weekdays during normal business hours (0900hrs to 1700hrs) until 11th November 2018.
