📢 High-Level MHA Meeting Concludes on Kudmali Language & Census 2026–27A delegation of the Adivasi Kudmi Samaj, led by youth leader Shri Amit Mahto, held a pivotal 2-hour meeting with the Language Division of the Registrar General of India (MHA) in New Delhi.

📍Census Classification: The government has classified the mother tongue under the 'Kurmali Thar' group for the upcoming 2026–27 Census.The Demand: The delegation submitted a memorandum requesting the addition of '(Kudmali)' in brackets alongside 'Kurmali Thar' to avoid ground-level data errors and confusion.8th Schedule Status: Discussions were held regarding its inclusion in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, but no official deadline or final announcement has been issued by the MHA yet.

📍Warning of Stir:

Amit Mahto warned that if promises to include the language in the 8th Schedule are breached, a massive, indefinite agitation will be launched across Jharkhand, Odisha, West Bengal, and Assam.
