As part of the 3rd BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting in Bhopal, delegates visited the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), where they experienced India’s rich cultural diversity through its unique open-air museum, traditional dwellings, and living heritage traditions.

The delegates also enjoyed a captivating Kathak performance and traditional community dance presentations, offering a vibrant glimpse into India’s diverse performing arts heritage.

The visit offered an opportunity to deepen cultural understanding and foster greater people-to-people connections among BRICS nations.

On the occasion of the 72nd Foundation Day of Lalit Kala Akademi, under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture, an event was organised today at Ravindra Bhawan, Delhi, to commemorate over seven decades of its contribution to promoting visual art in India.

The occasion was graced by Shri KK Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture. He launched two publications, Chitra Kanu Desai & Kalaguru Ravishankar Raval, authored by Shri Kanaiyalal Fakirchand Patel. Also present on the occasion were officials and dignitaries from the ministry, including Shri Rajeev Kumar, Director, and Shri Aneish Rajan, Director.

The celebration also featured cultural performances and live art demonstrations, highlighting Lalit Kala Akademi's enduring contribution to India's artistic heritage.

Shri Vivek Aggarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture and Chair of the BRICS Culture Working Group, delivered the opening remarks at the inaugural session of the 3rd BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

He underscored that the discussions have reaffirmed the shared belief that culture is not merely a repository of the past, but a dynamic force for innovation, resilience, inclusive growth, and deeper people-to-people connections.

He also invited the delegates to experience India’s rich civilisational heritage through specially curated exhibitions, a visit to the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya (IGRMS), tours of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Sanchi and Bhimbetka and the BRICS Cultural Festival at Ravindra Bhawan, where the artistic traditions of BRICS Member and Partner Countries will be celebrated through performances reflecting the diversity and vibrancy of our shared cultural landscape.

The 3rd BRICS Culture Working Group Meeting was inaugurated in Bhopal with a ceremonial lamp-lighting, marking the commencement of deliberations under India’s BRICS Chairship.

Representatives from BRICS countries delivered their openings remarks on India’s key priorities under the Culture Track, including the creative economy, cultural heritage protection, and culture-led sustainable development.

Delegations from Brazil, China, South Africa, UAE, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, and Ethiopia participated in person, while Egypt joined the proceedings in hybrid mode.

Ahead of the BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting, the Working Group Meeting serves as a significant platform for strengthening cultural cooperation and advancing collaborative initiatives among BRICS nations.
