The State Bird of Assam, White Winged Wood Duck, locally known as Deohaanh has been directly sighted for the first time in Dihing Patkai National Park of Jeypore RF today after a very long time. It was believed that it became extinct in this National park. However today, a team of our frontline staff sighed the bird during their regular patrolling duty indicating a significant milestone to the Park as well as the entire Assam Forest Department.

Today the honourable Environment and Forest Minister, Mr. Chandra Mohan Patowary sir visited Abhaypur, the site of Guinness World Record of planting 3,31,929 saplings in an hour as part of Amrit Briksha Andolan. He inspected the entire plantation site and expressed his satisfaction at the wellbeing of the plants. Instructions have been given to the forest officials to look after the plants with proper care in due time.

Celebration of 69th National Wildlife Week concluded in Dibrugarh Division with various programmes including a bicycle rally for awareness on wildlife conservation, screening of documentary on solar fencing to reduce human-elephant conflict, exhibition on biodiversity of Assam, art competition etc in collaboration with various organisations such as Aaranyak , Joypur HS school , Bhogalipathar LP school and Borkharanya Yuba Sangha. This sets a perfect example of this year's theme i.e. "Partnership for Wildlife Conservation".

Preparation is in full swing for Guinness World Record making attempt for 'Most Trees Planted by a team in 1 Hour' at Hapjan Parbat, Abhoypur, Dibrugarh. Around 3.5 lakh trees will be planted between 3 to 4 pm on 15 Sept 2023.
