Dibrugarh University under the aegis of the NSS Cell, Dibrugarh University and the NSS DU PG Unit successfully organized the Viksit Bharat Yuva Connect - Seva Pakhwada Edition on September 26, 2025 at the Shri Shri Aniruddhadeva Bhawan of Dibrugarh University. The programme was organized under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India which had selected 75 educational institutes including Dibrugarh University from across the country to host the Yuva Connect programme this year. Two Youth Icons, namely Mr. Taran Soni and Ms. Nayana Saikia were deputed for the programme by the Ministry. Mr. Soni is a lawyer, life-skills coach and youth leader from Jorhat while Ms. Saikia is a National NSS Awardee (2020–21) and an alumnus of Dibrugarh University hailing from Digboi.
The programme started with an introduction to Viksit Bharat and the Yuva Connect initiative followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Prof. Jiten Hazarika along with DU NSS Cell Programme Coordinator, Prof. David Kardong; Coordinator of Viksh*t Bharat, Dibrugarh University., Prof. Aparup Das and the two youth icons. The dignitaries and the youth icons were felicitated with the traditional Assamese Gamucha by the NSS volunteers. Prof. Hazarika while delivering the inaugural speech paid tributes to the late cultural icon and social activist from Assam, Late Zubeen Garg while underlining the pivotal role of youth in nation-building.
Mr. Soni delivered an engaging presentation on Viksit Bharat 2047, describing it as a philosophy rooted in inclusivity, self-reliance, and cultural pride. Highlighting the “Five Prans” and “Eleven Sankalps,” he urged students to envision India in 2047 as a globally developed, self-assured nation. Through interactive dialogue, he emphasized progress in infrastructure, GST reforms, digital India, women-led development, and renewable energy, while urging the youth to champion sustainable practices. Ms Saikia in carrying out the presentation on Viksit Bharat further inspired the audience by blending Assamese and English in her interaction, encouraging students to “dream big and begin with small, selfless steps.” She touched upon healthcare, women empowerment, innovation, and the spirit of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
The session concluded with an energetic Yuva Samvad between the youth icons and the audience. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by DU NSS Cell Assistant Programme Coordinator, Dr. Himadri Barman, marking the event as a vibrant exchange of ideas and aspirations for India’s future. The programme ended with the singing of the National Anthem.
NSS DU PG Unit Programme Coordinator, Dr. Jitu Borah and NSS DU PG Unit Assistant Programme Coordinator, Dr. Ujjal Saikia were also present in the programme. The audience included NSS Volunteers from the University, DHSK Commerce College, Dibrugarh and MDKG College, Dibrugarh along with other students from the University.
