Dibrugarh has been selected as the top-performing district in Assam for the implementation of the PMFME Scheme under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Government of India.

Against a target of 296 loans in FY 2026–27, 404 PMFME loans have been sanctioned in Dibrugarh District, reflecting the district’s strong performance in supporting food processing entrepreneurs.

The district has also been invited for felicitation at the PMFME Conclave on 24–25 August 2026 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, in the presence of Shri Chirag Paswan, Hon’ble Minister of Food Processing Industries, Government of India.

A proud milestone for Dibrugarh and a recognition of our collective efforts towards strengthening the food processing sector.

Strengthening the Small Tea Growers of Dibrugarh
Five Self-Help Groups—Junbai, Siro Seuj, Kuhi, Basundhara and Seuj—were provided with Green Leaf Carrying Vehicles under the Tea Cess Utilisation (Amendment) Policy, 2017 to facilitate the efficient transportation of freshly plucked green tea leaves.
A total subsidy of ₹34.12 lakh was sanctioned, with 75% Government subsidy and the remaining 25% contributed by the respective SHGs.
The initiative will help reduce post-harvest losses, improve transportation and strengthen the collection, handling and marketing of green tea leaves, thereby supporting the sustainable growth of Assam’s small tea sector.

PMEGP Success Story | DI&CC, Dibrugarh

A field visit was conducted by Md. Aftabuddin Ahmed, Assistant Manager, DI&CC, Dibrugarh, to Bubbles Hair & Beauty Unisex Salon, established under the Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP).

The enterprise has been set up with a bank loan of ₹10.00 lakh, supported by a 35% Government subsidy under PMEGP, promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship in the district.
