The District Commissioner, Karbi Anglong, Smti. Kriti Chachra, IAS, chaired the District Level Committee Meeting on the APDCL Model Solar Village initiative, in the presence of Smti. Kache Rongpipi and Shri Ritesh Enghi, Hon’ble Executive Members of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council, along with other concerned officials.

The meeting deliberated on the final selection of the Model Solar Village in the district under the PM-Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, a flagship initiative aimed at promoting rooftop solar energy and encouraging the adoption of clean and renewable power.

The initiative seeks to strengthen sustainable energy practices, reduce dependence on conventional electricity sources and promote energy self-reliance at the village level, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future for Karbi Anglong.

The District Commissioner, Karbi Anglong, Smti. Kriti Chachra, IAS, today chaired a meeting to review preparations for Khel Maharan 3.0 in the district.

The meeting was attended by Assam Gaurav Khorsing Terang, ADC, Sports and Youth Welfare, the District Sports Officer, Block Development Officers (BDOs), representatives of the Karbi Anglong Sports Association (KASA), and other concerned officials.

Discussions focused on the schedule of competitions, sporting disciplines, competition levels and age categories, formation of MAC- and LAC-level committees, identification of venues, availability of sports infrastructure, and completion of other necessary formalities to ensure the smooth and successful conduct of the event.

An initiative of the Government of Assam, Khel Maharan aims to identify, nurture and promote sporting talent at the grassroots level by providing aspiring athletes with a platform to showcase their abilities and progress to higher levels of competition. The initiative seeks to strengthen the sporting ecosystem and encourage greater participation in sports among the youth of Karbi Anglong.

A meeting with all the recognised political parties of Karbi Anglong district was held today in the Conference Hall of the DC Office regarding the Special Summary Revision (SSR) of Electoral Rolls, 2027. The District Commissioner explained the timeline of the SSR and briefed the participants on the various stages of the revision process, including the publication of the draft electoral roll, verification of entries, filing of claims and objections, and publication of the final electoral roll. The representatives of the political parties were requested to extend their cooperation to ensure a smooth, transparent and inclusive revision process. The schedule of Special Summary Revision shall be as follows :

1. Rationalization/Rearrangement of Polling Stations by 02.11.2026

2. Publication of Integrated draft electoral rolls on 12.11.2026

3. Period for filing claims & objections from 12.11.2026 to 11.12.2026

4. Disposal of claims and objections by 28.12.2026

5. Final Publication of electoral rolls on 04.01.2027

The District Commissioner, Karbi Anglong, Smti. Kriti Chachra, IAS, today, 14th October 2026, chaired the District Child Welfare and Protection Committee (DCWPC) meeting to review key issues concerning child protection and welfare in the district.

The DC emphasized the need for effective interdepartmental coordination and timely intervention to prevent child marriage, child labour, child abuse and trafficking. She stressed the importance of strengthening the child protection mechanism at the grassroots level and ensuring the effective implementation of Mission Vatsalya schemes, including sponsorship, foster care and aftercare.

The DC also highlighted the need for prompt reporting of child protection concerns, timely medical examination and treatment of children in POCSO cases, and enhanced community-level awareness. The DC called upon all concerned departments and stakeholders to discharge their responsibilities with sensitivity, accountability and commitment.

The meeting underscored a collective resolve to ensure the safety, protection, rehabilitation and overall well-being of every child in Karbi Anglong.
