Strengthening disaster preparedness among our youth.

On 30 May 2026, the Karbi Anglong District Administration, in collaboration with the DDRF and CQRT teams, successfully conducted school-level awareness programmes at Howraghat Town Girls’ High School and Srimanta Sankardev Vidyalaya, Howraghat.

Students and teachers actively participated in sessions on disaster preparedness, emergency response, safety measures during natural disasters, and practical demonstrations on the proper use of fire extinguishers.

Such initiatives aim to build awareness, resilience, and preparedness for emergencies within our communities.

In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the District Commissioner Karbi Anglong, Shri Aranyak Saikia, IAS on behalf of the Karbi Anglong District Administration today felicitated meritorious students of HSLC and Higher Secondary Examinations 2026 at Diphu Circuit House.

Top-performing ten students each in the category of HSLC and HS from State Board and five students each in the category of HSLC and HS from Central Board were honoured for their outstanding achievements.

A meeting chaired by the District Commissioner Karbi Anglong, Shri Aranyak Saikia, IAS of the District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee for Karbi Anglong was convened today to review the implementation of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.

The meeting deliberated on key provisions of the Act, measures for prevention of atrocities, protection of rights, and effective implementation mechanisms. Officials and committee members discussed coordinated efforts to ensure justice, safeguard vulnerable communities, and strengthen awareness and monitoring across the district.

The District Administration remains committed to upholding the rights, dignity, and welfare of SC and ST communities in Karbi Anglong.

To ensure fair pricing and availability of essential commodities, the Karbi Anglong District Administration continued field inspections for the second consecutive day across markets in the district.

Today’s inspections focused on retail shops and vegetable vendors to verify compliance with the District Level Daily Price List, display of updated price boards, and issuance of cash memos to consumers. The Administration remains vigilant against abnormal price fluctuations through continuous monitoring and enforcement.

District Commissioner, Karbi Anglong, Shri Aranyak Saikia, IAS along with SSP, Karbi Anglong, Shri Pushpraj Singh, IPS today chaired the monthly review meetings of the District Road Safety Committee (DRSC) and NCORD at Diphu Government College premises. Representatives from PWD (Roads), National Highways, Transport, Health, Excise, Education and other departments participated in the deliberations.

The meeting focused on strengthening road safety measures, enhancing inter-departmental coordination, and intensifying efforts towards a drug-free and disciplined society. Shri Muazzam Hussain Barbhuiya, Principal of Diphu Government College, along with teaching and non-teaching staff and students, also attended the meeting-cum-awareness campaign drive.

The District Administration reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safer roads, responsible citizenship, and sustained action against substance abuse across Karbi Anglong.
