AEFI Committee Meeting & Causality Assessment | Assam

The Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) Committee Meeting and Causality Assessment was held today, 29 August 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Directorate of Health Services (Family Welfare), Assam.

The meeting was held in the presence of the Director, DHSFW, Assam, along with members of the State immunisation team and other concerned officials.

The committee reviewed reported AEFI cases and undertook a systematic causality assessment to strengthen vaccine safety monitoring and ensure continued confidence in immunisation services.

It’s Routine Immunisation Day—a reminder that every child deserves timely protection, wherever they live and whatever challenges they may face.

For newborns, the journey begins with the birth doses. BCG, Hepatitis B and OPV provide an important first layer of protection and should not be missed.

As we reach communities, homes and health facilities across Assam, let’s make every effort to find children who may have missed a dose and bring them back into the immunisation schedule.

A Routine Immunisation (RI) Performance Review Meeting was held on 21 August to assess immunisation performance across Assam, with a focus on birth doses, institutional and home deliveries, U-WIN and HMIS data discrepancies, and timely data updation.

The review emphasised the need for closer supervision at delivery points and Sub-Centre level, stronger monitoring of BCG and other antigens, and improved follow-up of due beneficiaries.

Districts were urged to take greater ownership of data quality and ensure that every vaccination is accurately recorded on U-WIN in real time.
