As restrictions caused due to the covid 19 pandemic are being lifted, we at Baandhavi, were able to reach out to people and help them.
We organised an awareness session for the women of Lalpur village at the Lalpur High School (PO: Chalmara, Sarbari-Panchet Road, Damtosa, Purulia district). We then distributed approximately 500 packets of sanitary napkins, for free.
We would like to extend our gratitude to Mrs Amrita Dutta, DFO Kangsabati, North Purulia for being a constant support to us and helping us execute these distributions. We would also like to thank (Ms. Kanchan from International Graduate Center, Hochschule Bremen, Germany) for this distribution project.

Since the time Baandhavi started working on it, we have created awareness and conducted workshops for rural women on menstrual health and hygiene. We have organised free distribution camps to help them cultivate the habit of using sanitary napkins. Due to the ongoing pandemic and the crisis, a lot of these women are not willing to spend money on themselves, which is leading them to ignore their health needs.
So, today, on Menstrual Hygiene Day, In association with Akhil Bhartiya Marwari Mahila Samiti City Center Branch, we distributed 425 packets of sanitary napkins, free of cost, across 8 villages (Bholapara, Lallupara, Bangsibera, Hanuman Chatal, Majhipara, Baganpara, Dashirband, BM Plot).
We are hoping that we can help these women, and do as much as possible from our end to ensure their well-being. This is a small step that we took today. We’re working on this issue during this crisis, so that we can extend more help towards the society.

Got the opportunity to put up a stall in Ban Mohatsav of Purulia district. I would like to extend thanks to the Chief Conservator Of Forest Sourab Sir, DFO kangsabati north Mrs Amrita Dutta for giving me this opportunity, and for helping take this work forward.
Also got the chance to present the work to Honourable Minister of state for Forests, Shri Rajiv Banerjee. This has really motivated me.
Menstrual Health Management is the need of the hour, especially in rural villages as there is lack of all three "A's" i.e Awareness, Availability and Affordability.
Looking forward to moving across different districts of West Bengal with the assistance of forest department.

I’d like to thank Saurabh Chaudhari, IFS,
Chief Conservator of Forests, South-West Circle and Amrita Dutta, IFS, DFO, Kangsabati North Division and Siddhartha Barari.I.F.S. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Head of Forest. These people have recognised our work and have extended time and encouragement for the same. We will have a chance to explore more , be more fearless and adapt to change better because of the belief they’ve shown in our work.
What started as an awareness program on menstrual hygiene an Year is now becoming a way of life. The current crisis shows that new paradigms are necessary to build a healthier society.
Here is a glimpse of their feedback which adds to our credentials, and we are extremely happy and grateful for this, and hope to keep working for this.
