NHPC champions clean, renewable energy with minimal carbon footprints, supporting the national grid and integrating solar and wind energy into the power system. Currently, NHPC's total installed capacity is 7144.20 MW and the company is presently engaged in the construction of projects aggregating to 10492.70 MW. Among its flagship endeavours, the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower project stands as a testament to NHPC's prowess, representing one of India's largest hydroelectric projects. As of December 31st 2023, NHPC boasts an authorized share capital of Rs. 15,000 crore and total investment base of Rs. 79789.87 crore. Having successfully concluded its IPO in 2009, NHPC is listed on both the NSE and BSE. NHPC's is a financially robust company which has consistently shown strong financial performance since its inception. The company registered a Profit after Tax (PAT) of Rs. 3744 crore for FY 2023-24. In line with the Government of India's clean energy transition objectives, NHPC is steadfastly working towards achieving an installed capacity of 23000 MW by 2032 and 50000 MW by 2047. This trajectory will elevate NHPC amongst the world's top 10 hydropower companies. NHPC is not only playing a crucial role in India’s energy security but is also empowering the people at large with its CSR initiatives aiming at overall socio-economic development of the common masses.

Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC, visited the Uri-I Stage-II HE Project on 04.06.2026 and reviewed the progress of ongoing construction works. During the visit, he inspected the Powerhouse area, Adit-2 and the Barrage site. Shri Miren Kumar Verma, Head of Project, briefed him on the status of various project components and key construction activities. Director (Projects) also interacted with officials of NHPC and M/s Max Infra (I) Ltd., and emphasized the need for timely completion of the project while ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety and cost efficiency. श्री संजय कुमार सिंह, निदेशक (परियोजनाएं), एनएचपीसी ने दिनांक 04-05 जून 2026 के दौरान उड़ी पावर स्टेशन, जम्मू एवं कश्मीर का दौरा किया। निदेशक (परियोजनाएं) महोदय ने पावर हाउस, बैराज परिसर तथा गिंगल कॉलोनी सहित विभिन्न स्थलों का निरीक्षण किया और पावर स्टेशन की विविध परिचालन गतिविधियों का अवलोकन किया। उन्होंने पावर स्टेशन के संचालन, उत्पादन प्रदर्शन एवं समग्र कार्य निष्पादन से संबंधित विस्तृत जानकारी प्राप्त की।

Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, led the World Environment Day celebrations in NHPC, on 05.06.2026 at NHPC Corporate Office, Faridabad, by planting a sapling and launching a plantation drive. The event was organized as part of NHPC’s nationwide observance of World Environment Day across its Corporate Office, Regional Offices, Power Stations, Projects and other units, reaffirming the organization’s commitment to environmental sustainability.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Gupta emphasized the need for collective action towards environmental conservation and urged everyone to adopt sustainable practices in their daily lives. He highlighted the importance of preserving ecological balance and conserving natural resources for future generations. He further underscored the significance of environmental stewardship and called upon employees to actively contribute towards building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future.
Senior officers and employees participated enthusiastically in the programme and planted saplings within the office premises, reaffirming NHPC’s unwavering commitment to environmental protection and sustainable development. Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, inaugurated the construction activities of the 240 MW Uri-I Stage-II Project on 31.05.2026 by initiating the first blast for the Adit-3A to HRT through the existing Adit-3 in Uri, Baramulla District of UT of Jammu & Kashmir. The event was attended by Shri Suprakash Adhikari, Director (Technical), NHPC, representatives of the District Administration and District Police, Baramulla and local residents.
On this occasion, Shri Gupta congratulated the officials of NHPC and M/s MAX Infra (I) Ltd. for the successful commencement of project works. He emphasized the need to accelerate project ex*****on and ensure completion before stipulated timeline while maintaining the highest standards of quality and cost efficiency.
