AHMAD BAKHSH, SHAIKH, Khan Bahadur of FATEHPUR NW provinces:
Born 1815. Son of Tir Bakhsh, who was in the service of the Raja of Nagpur ; and whose ancestor, Malik Bal Lai, settled in the Fatehpur district in the reign of Shahab-ud-din Ghori. The Khan Bahadur served in the Bengal Light Cavalry from the year 1830; and took part in the campaign against the Bhils in 1832, and in the Afghan war in 183

9. He went through the Kabul campaigns, and joined in the pursuit of Dost Muhammad. For his loyalty during the Mutiny he was rewarded with a khtlat, a jagir (grant of lands), and the title of Khan Bahadur, which was conferred on him in January 1866.
