National Space Day 2026

W.R.S. Government College, Dehri celebrated National Space Day 2026 on 22 August with the theme “Expanding Lunar Frontiers.”

The event featured a poster exhibition where 17 students presented India’s space missions and achievements. The exhibition was visited by students and faculty members from different departments, creating an engaging platform for learning and interaction. The programme was attended by approximately 89 students.

Ms. Kanchan Rani, Assistant Professor of Physics, delivered a talk on “Expanding Lunar Frontiers,” highlighting India’s future space missions and endeavours. Dr. Akshay Kumar encouraged students to explore opportunities in space science and research, while Dr. Kamakshi Lumba, Principal, emphasised the importance of such celebrations in inspiring young minds.

In her concluding remarks, Ms. Suman Lata highlighted that National Space Day is not merely about commemorating Chandrayaan-3’s historic achievement, but about inspiring young minds to think beyond boundaries and explore the unknown.

Welcoming SDM Fatehpur Mr. Raman Kumar Sharma to Our College Campus:

Today, we had the honor of welcoming the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Tehsil Fatehpur, Mr. Raman Kumar Sharma, H.A.S., to our college campus.
​Our officiating Principal, Dr. Kamakshi Lumba, warmly greeted the SDM and guided him on an extensive tour of the college library. During the visit, Mr. Kumar inspected the modern learning resources available to our students, including the digital tablets, computer systems, academic magazines, and extensive book collections.
​We extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Raman Kumar for his valuable time, encouraging words, and support toward our mission of providing advanced educational facilities to our students.

Project Evaluation and Viva Voce Examination of M.Com IV Semester Students
The Department of Commerce, WRS Government College Dehri, successfully conducted the Project Evaluation and Viva Voce Examination (MC-405) and Comprehensive Viva Voce Examination (MC-406) for the students of M.Com IV Semester on 21 August 2026.
The examination and evaluation process was conducted by Prof. Kuldeep Kumar Attri, Director, HPU Regional Centre, Dharamshala, who was appointed as the External Evaluator by Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. The viva voce examinations were held in a cordial and academically enriching environment.
A total of 23 students of the M.Com IV Semester successfully defended their project work and appeared in the comprehensive viva voce examination, thereby fulfilling an important academic requirement for the award of the Master of Commerce degree. The students demonstrated a sound understanding of their research projects and exhibited commendable subject knowledge during the interaction with the external examiner.
The entire examination process was coordinated by Lt. Dr. Shashi Kumar, Head, Department of Commerce, along with Dr. Inderjeet Singh. Students of M.Com First Semester and Third Semester were also present during the proceedings and benefited from observing the academic interaction and evaluation process.

PI Staff Visit and NCC Training Session
A training session for NCC cadets was organized at WRS Government College Dehri under the guidance of the 9 HP Battalion NCC, Dalhousie-Chamba. The PI Staff comprising Subedar Raj Kumar, Havildar Baljinder Singh, and Shri Akhil Kumar visited the college and conducted various training activities for NCC cadets.
During the session, the cadets were imparted practical training in drill, map reading, and were provided valuable information regarding career opportunities and awards in the Indian Army. The instructors emphasized the importance of discipline, leadership, patriotism, and military skills among the cadets.
A total of 81 NCC cadets actively participated in the training programme and benefited from the expert guidance of the PI Staff. The session was highly informative and interactive, enhancing the knowledge and confidence of the cadets.
On this occasion, Lt. Dr. Shashi Kumar, ANO of the NCC Unit, WRS Government College Dehri, was also present and encouraged the cadets to participate enthusiastically in NCC activities and strive for excellence.
The programme concluded successfully with cadets expressing their gratitude to the PI Staff for their valuable training and guidance.

World Entrepreneurs’ Day Celebration
Department of Commerce, WRS Government College Dehri, organized a special lecture on the occasion of World Entrepreneurs’ Day on 21 August 2026, for UG and PG students. The programme aimed to promote entrepreneurial awareness and inspire students to explore self-employment and innovation as career opportunities.
The keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Kuldeep Singh Attri, Director, Regional Centre, Himachal Pradesh University, Dharamshala. In his insightful address, Prof. Attri highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship in economic development, employment generation, and nation-building. He encouraged students to develop entrepreneurial skills, embrace innovation, and take advantage of various government schemes designed to support start-ups and young entrepreneurs.
The programme was attended by Lt. Dr. Shashi Kumar, Head, Department of Commerce, and Dr. Inderjeet Singh, who appreciated the valuable guidance shared by the resource person. Faculty members and students of the UG and PG Commerce Departments actively participated in the event and interacted with the speaker during the question-and-answer session.

18.08.2026: Awareness Programme on Scholarship Schemes

An Awareness Programme on Scholarship Schemes was organized on 18 August 2026 for the students of B.A., B.Com. and B.Sc. 1st year. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. Shiwal Singh, Department of Economics, Convenor, Scholarship Committee, with the support of committee members Dr. Shivani Sharma, Dr. Sukhdev, Prof. Raman, and Dr. Surinder Kumar. A total of 163 students participated in the programme.

The main objective of the programme was to create awareness among students about various scholarship schemes, their eligibility criteria, application procedures, required documents, and important deadlines. Closing Ceremony of Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026:

The NCC Unit of WRS Government College, Dehri, organized the closing ceremony of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign 2026 on 18 August 2026 under the guidance of 9 HP Battalion NCC, Dalhousie-Chamba. The programme marked the successful culmination of various patriotic activities conducted during the campaign to promote national pride, unity, and respect for the National Flag among students and NCC cadets.
The closing ceremony commenced with the collective singing of "Vande Mataram" at the mass level by NCC cadets, students, and faculty members. The patriotic rendition created an atmosphere of national spirit and enthusiasm, reaffirming the participants' commitment towards the nation and its values.
The closing ceremony ended with the National Anthem and a renewed pledge to serve the nation with dedication, discipline, and patriotism.

On the concluding day of Anti-Ragging Week, 18th August 2026, the Discipline and Anti-Ragging Committee organized a Badminton Tournament at the college. The matches provided students with an opportunity to interact positively and strengthen friendship and mutual respect. The event also promoted the message of a ragging-free, safe, and friendly campus environment. The tournament was conducted successfully in a disciplined and cordial atmosphere, bringing the Anti-Ragging Week activities to a meaningful conclusion.
