Socio-Political Leader paid glowing tributes to Late Sheri-I-Kashmir Sheikh Mohd Abdullah 0n his 120th birth anniversary.
While speaking , Haji Faiz Said that majority population of our state lives in rural areas, and mentioned that being rural area, Late sheikh Mohd Abdullah, some 70 years back had added a chapter in the Naya Kashmir Document, it was an attempt, first of its kind at that point of time in the whole subcontinent, where the focus was laid on the empowerment of the women.
He was the man who gave dignity to the labour of a poor peasant who, till then, had to till for his landlord and return home barehanded, Sheikh Abdullah was a charismatic leader and social reformer who fought for the rights of oppressed sections of society irrespective of caste, creed or religion, Said Haji Faiz.
While paying homage to Sheri Kashmir Haji Faiz recalled Sheikh Sahib’s significant contribution in laying the foundation of Jammu and Kashmir as a secular, peaceful and progressive state.
Sheikh Abdullah’s policy of ‘Land to the tiller’ signalled a new era of peasant emancipation.
