DC Ganderbal urges active public participation in Mega Padyatra on June 05 at Qamaria Stadium

Interacts with civil society members, traders, hoteliers, religious scholars and prominent citizens of the District

GANDERBAL, JUNE 01: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today appealed to the people of the district to participate in large numbers in the Mega Padyatra being organised in the district under the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K campaign.

Addressing a press conference here, the DC informed that a Mega Padyatra will be held on June 5 at Qamaria Stadium, Ganderbal, in which Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha will participate and lead the rally.

Appealing to the citizens of Ganderbal, the DC urged people from all walks of life to join the event in maximum numbers and contribute towards making the Nasha Mukt J&K campaign a grand success.

He said that under the leadership of Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha, a 100-day intensive campaign against drug abuse is being carried out across Jammu and Kashmir with a focus on making the Union Territory drug-free, and this Mega Padyatra is part of the sustained campaign.

He added that the campaign has witnessed an encouraging response from the public over the past several weeks, with extensive awareness activities being conducted in villages, schools and communities across the district and UT.

The DC highlighted that a series of programmes, including rallies, skits and awareness campaigns, have been organised with the active involvement of various departments, including District Administration, Police, Health, Social Welfare and School Education Departments among others.

He said the overwhelming public participation has transformed the initiative into a people’s movement in Ganderbal district.

Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sudhanshu Dhama, also held an extensive interaction with civil society members, traders, industrialists, religious scholars, community representatives and other stakeholders to strengthen public participation in the anti-drug campaign.

The meeting witnessed strong enthusiasm among participants, who pledged wholehearted support and active participation in the upcoming mega rally.

Addressing the gathering, the DC said the fight against drug abuse is a collective social responsibility that can succeed only through active public involvement. He said the encouraging response over the past one-and-a-half months shows the campaign is steadily taking shape as a mass movement in Ganderbal.

The DC reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening the anti-drug movement and ensuring wider public engagement in building a drug-free society.

DC Ganderbal reviews preparations for Muharram, issues directions for proper civic amenities

GANDERBAL, MAY 25: In order to ensure smooth and peaceful observance of forthcoming auspicious month of Muharram-ul-Haram, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore today convened a meeting here to review preparedness measures, assess departmental readiness and take stock of public requirements related to the festival.

During the meeting, representatives from various Shia dominated areas of district Ganderbal highlighted a range of public issues and sought timely intervention by line departments to strengthen civic facilities and essential services ahead of Muharram.

Key issues raised included filling potholes and macadamization of roads leading to Imambargahs and along procession routes. Participants also highlighted the need for completion of pending infrastructure works, and restoration of damaged road stretches.

Demands were also made for uninterrupted drinking water supply, desilting of drains, sanitation drives, and improved sanitation facilities at major congregation sites. They also sought installation and repair of streetlights and solar lights as well as availability of backup power facilities at religious institutions.

The DC issued a series of directions to concerned departments for timely ex*****on of works and close inter-departmental coordination. He directed all departments to conduct field assessments and make proper arrangements wherever required.

KPDCL was directed to conduct a detailed survey along procession routes and ensure tightening of loose and low-hanging wires to avoid any safety hazards, besides installation of additional street lights and power backup.

Departments concerned were asked to undertake road repairs wherever required, ensure adequate drinking water arrangements including tanker service and address sanitation-related issues, and street lighting on priority.

The Health Department was directed to establish medical camps at key congregation and procession points, besides deploying doctors, paramedical staff, essential medicines and first-aid facilities. The department was further instructed to keep ambulances stationed at strategic locations to provide prompt emergency response and healthcare support during major Muharram gatherings and processions.

DC also directed for deployment of adequate number of fire tenders, ensuring adequate availability of ration, LPG, and fire wood.

Among others, the meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kangan, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Executive Engineers and other district and sectorial officers.

DC Ganderbal reviews arrangements for Eid-ul-Adha at major religious places

GANDERBAL, MAY 25: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore, today conducted an extensive visit to major religious places across Ganderbal town to take stock of arrangements in place for smooth conduct of Eid prayers during the upcoming religious occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

During the visit, the DC visited Syed Qamar-ud-Din Bukhari Shrine, Meerani Masjid Duderhama and Jama Masjid Beehama, where he interacted with management committees and took stock of the preparations for the smooth observance of the festival.

Emphasising the need for coordinated efforts by all departments, the DC directed the concerned officers to ensure adequate arrangements for the convenience of devotees during the festive occasion.

The Executive Engineers of Jal Shakti and KPDCL were instructed to ensure uninterrupted water and electricity supply at all major religious places to avoid any inconvenience to the public.

He also directed the concerned agencies to undertake intensive sanitation and cleanliness drives in and around mosques, shrines and adjoining areas to maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness during the celebrations.

During his interaction with the management committees, the DC sought feedback regarding the facilities required and assured them that the district administration would make all necessary arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful conduct of the religious occasion.

He further urged all concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure all arrangements.

During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Syed Faheem; Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti; Executive Engineer, KPDCL; Tehsildar Ganderbal, besides other concerned officers and officials.
