Ganderbal, 13-Aug-2026:- Under the Integrated Sheep Development Scheme (ISDS) 2026–27, two 20-Ewe Sheep Units were established at HLP Gumeri in favour of two beneficiaries, namely Firdous Ahmad Chopan and Ab Ahad Chopan, under the 50% subsidy mode. The initiative aims to strengthen rural livelihoods and promote sustainable income generation.
The programme was attended by Technical Officer To DSHO Ganderbal, Dr. Shabir Ahmad, along with Mr. Rafiq Ahmad Mir (Sr. Flock Supervisor), and other supervisory staff. The officer sensitised the beneficiaries on scientific sheep rearing, proper housing, balanced feeding and timely healthcare to enhance productivity and profitability.
The SHD Ganderbal, remains committed to empowering farmers, strengthening the farming community and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the SHD Ganderbal for establishing the units at HLP Gumeri and for extending continued support towards their livelihood development.

Ganderbal, 11-Aug-2026:- Today, the DSHO, Ganderbal, established two 20-Ewe Units at Safapora, in the jurisdiction of CD Block Safapora, under the Integrated Sheep Development Scheme (ISDS) 2026–27, in favour of Aqib Ahsan Ganie and Mohsin Ahmad Teli, respectively, under the 50% subsidy mode.
The initiative aims to strengthen the livelihoods of rural sheep breeders, promote sustainable income generation, and encourage modern and scientific sheep farming practices.
The establishment programme was organised in the presence of the District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Ganderbal, Dr. Syed Hyder Kazami, who was accompanied by the VAS, SDB Gratbal, Dr. Amani Ishtifaq, along with other officials of the SHD Ganderbal.
On the occasion, the officers emphasised the importance of scientific sheep rearing, proper housing, balanced nutrition, timely vaccination and healthcare management for enhancing flock productivity and improving the overall profitability of sheep farming.
The SHD, Ganderbal, remains committed to empowering the farming community through effective implementation of departmental schemes, technical guidance, and sustainable livelihood interventions.

Ganderbal 24-Jul-26:- The Sectoral Officer, FAC HLP Gumri, Dr. Yasir Waheed, along with other officials of SHD Ganderbal, today visited various behaks of Gumri to monitor the health status of livestock and assess the prevailing situation in view of the ongoing heavy rainfall. During the visit, the team conducted thorough health examinations of the animals, provided on-the-spot veterinary treatment to ailing livestock wherever required, and advised breeders on preventive measures to safeguard their livestock during the inclement weather conditions. The department remains committed to ensuring the health, welfare, and timely veterinary care of livestock in the high-altitude grazing areas.
