A teacher illuminates the path to success through the light of knowledge, yet some teachers extend that light to society through their contributions and research

I feel delighted to share that Prof Indranath Sengupta, Professor, Mathematics, IITGN, has been selected for the prestigious National Award to Teachers 2023 by the Ministry of Education. This award celebrates the contribution and dedication of teachers and Professor Sengupta is one of the 13 educators selected from higher educational institutes.

We are pleased to share that Prof Indranath Sengupta, Professor, Mathematics, IITGN, has been selected for the prestigious National Award to Teachers 2023 by the Ministry of Education. The award ceremony will be held in Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, on the occasion of Teachers' Day on Sep 5 and the Honourable President of India Smt Droupadi Murmu will confer the award.

A total of 75 educators have been selected for this esteemed honour from across the country, including 50 school teachers, 13 from higher educational institutes and 12 from Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

We extend our heartiest congratulations to Professor Sengupta!

I am pleased to share that IIT Gandhinagar recently hosted its 12th Convocation ceremony by conferring verifiable and tamper-proof digital degrees, mark sheets, and medal certificates in USB drives to a total of 456 students. Additionally, 48 students received 58 medals, including 42 gold medals and 16 silver medals for outstanding academic performances and other proficiencies.

It gives me immense pleasure to congratulate Prof Vinod Narayanan, Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering, IITGN on being awarded the ‘Fulbright-Nehru Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship’ in Physics for 2023-24.

Additionally, it is a matter of great pride to share that along with Professor Narayanan, two PhD students and two Postdoctoral Fellows from different disciplines have also been awarded the 2023-24 Fulbright Fellowships. Many congratulations to all the awardees!

I feel delighted to share that 16 PhD scholars from IIT Gandhinagar have been selected for the prestigious Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) in the May 2022 cycle! This is a commendable feat achieved by our students with the support of their faculty mentors. IITGN has always encouraged its students and researchers to do quality research that can benefit humankind. I am confident that these scholars, with their research and novel inventions, will contribute to society's growth and development.

It is worth mentioning here that IITGN now has a total of 47 PMRF fellows! Once again, congratulations to all the recipients.

It gives us immense joy to share that 16 PhD scholars working in various interdisciplinary research and development areas at IITGN have received the coveted Prime Minister's Research Fellowship (PMRF) in the May 2022 cycle. The competitive fellowship will help the students connect with brilliant minds from the industry as well as academia.

I had the pleasure of visiting the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities of the Mechanical Engineering and Materials Engineering disciplines at the Institute. On my first such visit, I also had the opportunity to meet and interact with some of the faculty members of the disciplines. I remain inspired by the knowledge, energy and enthusiasm of these young colleagues who are doing some impressive work here at IIT Gandhinagar.

It was a pleasure welcoming Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, Hon'ble Union Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India, to the IIT Gandhinagar campus last evening. Such an enthusiastic and energetic personality he is!

During his visit, Shri Vaishnaw interacted with the IITGN students and community over an interactive session that revolved around and . He also took a tour of our state-of-the-art IIT Gandhinagar Research Park and engaged in interesting conversations with the young of the supported by the IIT Gandhinagar Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (IIEC) and industry partners in the IIT Gandhinagar Research Park.

I would like to thank Shri Vaishnaw for visiting us and motivating our students and community members through his cheering words.
