Sanjivini Samaj Joins Hands Against Drug Menace

A team led by Sanjivini Samaj President Mrs. Menuka Tamang, along with active members of Samaj, participated in a powerful anti-drug campaign organized in Syari constituency. Deeply committed to building a safer, drug-free society, Mrs. Tamang emphasized the urgent need for community mobilization and youth engagement to eliminate the drug menace from the grassroots level.

The campaign was marked by the official launch of "Aama Ko Aasu Pusnay Lathi" (The Stick That Wipes Away Mother's Tears), a large-scale awareness initiative by MLA Tenzing Norbu Lamtha under the "Nasha Mukt Sikkim" mission. It began with a rally from Chandmari Taxi Stand to Rongneck Secondary School, drawing widespread participation from students, locals, and civic organizations.

In a bold and uncompromising move, MLA Lamtha announced a Zero Tolerance Policy against drug peddlers in the constituency. He declared that families found involved in drug trafficking would be banned from receiving any government welfare schemes, including free medical services and housing benefits. Basic civic services such as water and electricity may also be withdrawn.

“This is a fight for the future of our youth and the safety of our community,” Lamtha said. “We will not allow a handful of individuals to destroy the fabric of our society with drugs.”

Sanjivini Samaj’s presence reinforced its commitment to community welfare, echoing the shared determination to build a drug-free Sikkim.
