Around 55 in Rongli, boosting organisational base

Pakyong : In a significant boost to the Bharatiya Janata Partyโ€™s (BJP) grassroots organisation in Pakyong District, around 55 families, including workers and supporters associated with various regional political parties, joined the BJP during a joining programme held in Rongli under Chujachen Constituency.

The joining programme was conducted in the presence of BJP Sikkim State President Shri D.R. Thapa, State General Secretary Shri Dinesh Nepal, along with senior party leaders, executive members and local karyakartas. The new members were warmly welcomed into the BJP fold and expressed their commitment to the partyโ€™s ideology, organisational discipline and vision for Sikkim.

Addressing the gathering, State President Shri D.R. Thapa welcomed all the new members and described their joining as a reflection of the growing faith of people in the BJP and the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. Shri Thapa said that the BJPโ€™s objective is not merely organisational expansion, but to ensure that the benefits of development and welfare reach every deserving citizen. He observed that although the party may not yet be able to personally reach every household, the schemes and welfare programmes of the Modi Government have reached people across Sikkim.

Highlighting major initiatives such as Ayushman Bharat, PM-KISAN, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana and e-Shram, he said these schemes have played an important role in improving access to healthcare, supporting farmers, providing clean cooking fuel and extending social-security benefits to workers.

Calling upon the newly joined members to become active ambassadors of the partyโ€™s public-service mission, Shri Thapa urged them to take the benefits of Central Government schemes to the grassroots and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is deprived due to lack of awareness. He reiterated the BJPโ€™s vision for a debt-free, employment-generating, self-reliant and developed Sikkim, with emphasis on quality education, economic opportunities, good governance and Aatmanirbhar Sikkim. Addressing the youth, he encouraged them to explore self-employment, entrepreneurship and skill-development opportunities under various Central Government initiatives.

Shri Thapa also raised concerns regarding alleged shortcomings in the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission in the State, stating that the party has received complaints about works allegedly not being carried out as per prescribed guidelines. He said the BJP would examine the grievances and take up the matter through appropriate channels.

Speaking on key public issues, BJP State Spokesperson Shri Passang Gyali Sherpa raised concerns over the ongoing milk shortage, citing inadequate support and incentives for local dairy farmers and alleging that bulk procurement by private players, is affecting local availability. On the Panchayat system, he questioned the alleged suppression of Panchayati institutions over the past seven years and asked why the government has acted only after the BJP highlighted the concerns of Panchayat representatives. He further accused regional parties of promoting political divisions and alleged discrimination in the delivery of government schemes on political lines. He asserted that the BJP will work to end such divisions and ensure equal and non-discriminatory access to government welfare benefits for every citizen.

The programme concluded with a renewed call to all karyakartas to strengthen the BJP organisation at the grassroots and work collectively towards building a Viksit Sikkim and Viksit Bharat.
