On the occasion of India’s 80th Independence Day, the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission proudly celebrates not only the freedom we inherited, but the but the strength, ambition and limitless potential of the India we are building, powered by our *Yuva Shakti*.

A special highlight of the celebration was the felicitation of young professionals who began their journey with IPC through training and capacity-building programmes, alongside the former IPC experts and senior professionals who have contributed significantly to the Commission and continue to be associated with its technical and expert committees.

The celebration brought together two generations of strength, the experience of our experts and the energy of our youth.

For IPC, skill development is not merely about training; it is about creating capable professionals, nurturing confidence, building expertise and empowering young Indians to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s growth. Through its continuous training and capacity-building initiatives, IPC remains committed to preparing the next generation of skilled professionals for a stronger pharmaceutical ecosystem.

🚀 Brainstorming Session on AI-Powered Pharmacopoeia Standards Development and Pharmacovigilance Practices

IPC participated in the 10th Anniversary Meeting of the South-East Asia Regulatory Network (SEARN) held in Kathmandu, Nepal, on 4–5 August 2026. The meeting brought together representatives of National Regulatory Authorities (NRAs), pharmacopoeias, and international organizations from across the South-East Asia Region to commemorate a decade of regional collaboration and to strengthen regulatory systems for ensuring the quality, safety and efficacy of medical products.

During the meeting, IPC highlighted India's continued commitment to strengthening the drug regulatory system and promoting access to quality-assured medicines through internationally harmonized standards. The delegation showcased the IPC’s key initiatives in the development and publication of the Indian Pharmacopoeia, establishment of Indian Pharmacopoeia Reference Substances (IPRS) and Impurity Reference Standards (IMPRS), pharmacovigilance and materiovigilance activities under the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) and Materiovigilance Programme of India (MvPI), capacity-building programmes, and collaborative efforts with national and international stakeholders.

A significant milestone achieved during the meeting was the recognition of the IPC as the WHO-SEARN Regional Centre of Excellence in Pharmacovigilance and the Technical Centre in Quality. This prestigious recognition acknowledges IPC's sustained contributions to strengthening pharmacovigilance systems, advancing pharmaceutical quality standards, and supporting regulatory capacity-building across the WHO South-East Asia Region. The designation further reinforces IPC's role as a leader in pharmacopoeial science & standards and its commitment to promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and harmonization among Member States.

The meeting served as a valuable platform for exchanging scientific knowledge, sharing regulatory experiences, and discussing emerging challenges in pharmaceutical regulation, including quality assurance, safety, regulatory reliance, digital transformation, and regional cooperation. IPC reaffirmed its commitment to supporting collaborative initiatives that strengthen regulatory systems and improve public health outcomes across the South-East Asia Region.

Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) welcomed Commissioner, FDA Maharashtra, Shri Tukaram Mundhe, IAS (2005), along with Shri Ganesh Rokade, Joint Commissioner (HQ, Drug), FDA Maharashtra, to its headquarters in Ghaziabad.

During the visit, Shri Tukaram Mundhe shared valuable insights on fostering collaborative efforts to further improve the quality and safety of medicines in the country. The interactive session provided an enriching platform for knowledge exchange with the IPC team.

The visit also included an overview of IPC's key initiatives and programmes, followed by a tour of its state-of-the-art laboratories and scientific facilities, highlighting the Commission's commitment to ensuring the quality, safety, and efficacy of medicines.

The interaction provided an opportunity to strengthen collaboration and exchange perspectives on advancing regulatory excellence and safeguarding public health.
