Swaminarayan was born Ghanshyam Pande in Chapaiya, Uttar Pradesh, India in 1781. In 1792, he began a seven-year pilgrimage across India at the age of 11 years, adopting the name Nilkanth Varni. During this journey, he did welfare activities and after 9 years and 11 months of this journey, he settled in the state of Gujarat around 1799. In 1800, he was initiated into the Uddhav sampradaya by his guru, Swami Ramanand, and was given the name Sahajanand Swami. In 1802, his guru handed over the leadership of the Uddhav Sampraday to him before his death. Sahajanand Swami held a gathering and taught the Swaminarayan Mantra. From this point onwards, he was known as Swaminarayan. The Uddhav Sampraday became known as the Swaminarayan Sampraday

Parvati Aranga Bird Sanctuary is situated in the Gonda District and about 45 Km. from Gonda at Mankapur-Nawabganj Road and Mankapur-Faizabad Railway Line in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The sanctuary is spread over an area of 1084.47 ha. The lake is naturally able to sustain resident birds throughout the year and migratory birds during winter season.

Gonda is the District of Uttar Pradesh, India, which is about 118 km from state’s capital Lucknow. There are many mythological facts about the historical value of district Gonda. In the district, Barahi Devi, Khaira Bhavani and Shankar ji, Dukhharan Nath and Prithvi Nath Temple are holding their heritage from long periods.

Distt. Gonda is situated between the 26.41° to 27.51° N and 81.30° to 82.06° E. According to the census of 1991 the area of distt. is about 4003 sq km. In this district, 04 tehsils are Gonda, Mankapur, Colonelganj, and Tarabganj. The area of Tehsil Gonda is 1249.48 sq km of Tehsil Mankapur, 763.70 sq km of Tarabganj, 963.31 sq km and 1026.51 sq km of Colonelganj.

Distt. Gonda shares border with four other districts of the state Bahraich District to the West, Balrampur District to the North, Basti District to the East , Faizabad and Barabanki District to the South.
