On 03 June 2026, DCP Traffic Sh. Prateek Gahlot, IPS chaired a traffic review meeting with senior officers to strengthen enforcement across Gurugram.
Present at the meeting were Sh. Satyapal Yadav, HPS (ACP Traffic HQ/Highway), Sh. Sanjay, HPS (ACP Traffic West), and Sh. Manjeet, HPS (ACP Traffic East), along with Traffic Inspectors and other traffic personnel.
The discussion centred on stronger, sustained action against vehicles without number plates and against lane-discipline violations, which remain a leading cause of road accidents in the city.
Key directives issued:
• Effective and continuous action against vehicles without number plates
• Strict action against sudden, unsignalled lane changes, a major cause of road accidents
• Identification and monitoring of high-violation zones for lane discipline
• Regular checking drives, with violators booked as per rules

Gurugram Traffic Police is continuing its sustained drive against vehicles carrying long-pending, unpaid challans. On 02 June 2026, two such vehicles were intercepted, inspected, and impounded under the Motor
Vehicles Act, 1988.
Key points:
A scooty intercepted by Zonal Officer ASI Mahabir and his team at Sector 41–45 carried 39 pending challans totalling approximately ₹2,27,500, including driving without a PUC certificate and without a helmet. It was
impounded under Section 207(5) of the MV Act, 1988.
A truck intercepted by Traffic Inspector Savita and her staff carried 60 pending challans totalling approximately ₹10,24,200, including no PUC, no number plate, lane-change and no-entry violations. It was impounded as per rules.
Challans left unpaid beyond 90 days are not overlooked. Vehicles with outstanding penalties are liable to be seized and moved to designated parking under the law.

Please follow all traffic rules and clear your pending challans on time. Keeping your vehicle documents in order protects you from penalties, impoundment, and avoidable expense. Strict action against violators will continue.

From 01.05.2026 to 31.05.2026, Gurugram Traffic Police carried out a special drive against drink and drive, setting up nakas at key locations across the city to keep our roads safe.
Key points:
A total of 2,371 drivers were found driving under the influence and challaned as per rules, and 4 vehicles were impounded.
Every drink-and-drive offender also faces a 3-month suspension of their driving licence. During this period, they cannot operate any vehicle.
Dedicated teams were deployed at identified locations, with night checks forming a key part of the drive.
The aim of this drive is to curb drink and drive, ensure compliance with traffic rules, and keep traffic moving safely and in an orderly manner. Such enforcement drives will continue in the future.
Appeal to citizens:

On 02 June 2026, during a special checking drive, Zonal Officer ASI Mahabir (Sector 41-45 Chowk) and his
team intercepted a pickup vehicle for inspection at Sector 41-45 Chowk.
Key details of the action:
· 52 challans found pending against the vehicle under various sections of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988
· Violations included no-entry, dangerous driving and lane-change offences, among others
· Total pending fine amount: ₹9,12,000
· Challans pending for over 90 days
Action taken:
As the challans had remained unpaid for more than 90 days, the pickup vehicle was impounded under Section 167(8) of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and moved to the designated parking.

Weekly Enforcement Report | 25–31 May 2026
As part of the ongoing awareness drive, now in its eleventh consecutive month, Gurugram Traffic Police issued a total of 22,632 challans between 25 and 31 May 2026, imposing fines amounting to ₹1,86,24,400.
Enforcement breakdown:
• Field enforcement: 13,066 challans, including wrong-side driving (1,400), wrong parking (1,344), driver without helmet (931), lane change (917) and drink driving (596).
• Camera enforcement: 9,566 challans, including lane change (3,986), driver without seat belt (2,152) and no entry (1,790).
Highway watch:
A tighter watch is being maintained on NH-48, Dwarka Expressway and Mumbai Expressway, using NHAI cameras and drone technology to act against lane-change and overspeeding violations.
Awareness and community:
• The Suraksha Rath ran awareness programs at 12 locations, reaching over 388 citizens and students
on traffic rules, Dial 112 and helpline 1095.
• The Traffic Mitra initiative continues, with over 188 citizen applications received, 800+ traffic marshals appointed, and 39 Traffic Mitras trained at the TEC (IRTE) centre, Traffic Tower.
