Training & Exposure Visit to CALF Lab, NDDB, Anand, Gujarat
Officials from Guwahati Biotech Park (GBP) — Dr. Saurav Dey, Scientist; Ms. Monsumi Gogoi, Administrative Officer; and Dr. Prajjalendra Barooah, Research Associate — participated in a training and exposure visit to the Centre for Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food (CALF) Laboratory of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), Anand, Gujarat, a premier NABL-accredited food testing laboratory, on 13th–14th May 2026 to learn best practices for laboratory testing of quality honey and related food products.
Established by NDDB in 2009, CALF initially focused on testing animal feed, milk, and milk products and has since expanded into a state-of-the-art facility for testing contaminants, honey, edible oils, fruits, vegetables, beverages, nutraceuticals, and more. In February 2023, it was incorporated as NDDB CALF Limited, a 100% subsidiary of NDDB.
During the visit, the team explored the advanced facilities and scientific instruments available at the CALF Lab, NDDB, gaining valuable insights into quality testing protocols and analytical methodologies. They also interacted with in-house scientists and technical staff to discuss operational best practices and explore avenues of association with GBP for strengthening testing capabilities at the Regional Honey Testing Laboratory (RHTL), GBP.
The visit served as a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and exploring collaborative opportunities to enhance quality testing infrastructure and services at GBP.
