BICFA’s Scientific Intervention in Fisheries & Aquaculture sector

Business Incubation Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture (BICFA), Guwahati Biotech Park in collaboration with the Deptt. of Fisheries, Govt. of Assam, Kamrup, conducted a joint fish pond inspection on 8th August, 2026 at 3 No. C Lower Brahmaputra Meen Mahal Cooperative Society Ltd., Amingaon, Kamrup, Assam.
The team comprises
1. Mr. Nabajyoti Das, Project Association, BICFA, GBP
2. Ms. Himashri Choudhury, FD, Deptt. of Fisheries, Kamrup
3. Mr. Malakar, FD, Deptt. of Fisheries, Kamrup
The BICFA team provided field-level technical guidance and remedial recommendations on water quality management, feeding practices, fish health monitoring, pond management, stocking density and improving fish growth, survival and productivity.
Through such field interventions, BICFA continues to support farmers and fisheries stakeholders in adopting scientific, sustainable and productive aquaculture practices in Assam and NE Region of India.

Guwahati Biotech Park through its Business Incubation Centre for Fisheries and Aquaculture (BICFA) under the PMMSY, invites original book chapters for the First Edition of Meen Prabah.

Meen Prabah is a scientific publication dedicated to showcasing innovative research, technological advancements, successful case studies, and sustainable practices in fisheries, aquaculture, and allied sectors. The publication aims to bridge the gap between science, innovation, entrepreneurship, and field-level applications while highlighting the rich fisheries potential of Assam and the North Eastern Region.

· Launch of "Meen Pravah" – BICFA's first scientific publication dedicated to fisheries, aquaculture, innovation, and indigenous knowledge.

· Launch of the Entrepreneurship Development Programme (EDP) for UG & PG students of Assam, supported by NABARD, Guwahati—a first-of-its-kind initiative to nurture the next generation of bio-entrepreneurs through training, mentorship, startup guidance, innovation, funding opportunities, and industry exposure.

· Showcasing BICFA's Capacity Building Initiatives and future roadmap for strengthening the fisheries ecosystem.
