During World Heritage Week, the Archaeological Survey of India, the Department of Archaeology, and the Department of Museums, Dima Hasao, organised an art competition. The competition's theme was "150 years of Vande Mataram." A total of 126 participants from various schools across Haflong enthusiastically engaged, demonstrating their exceptional talents. Prizes and certificates were awarded to the deserving winners.

Inaugural Function – World Heritage Week 2025 | Haflong

On behalf of the District Museum, Haflong, we are pleased to inform you that, jointly with the Department of Archaeology, Dima Hasao, and the Archaeological Survey of India, Guwahati Circle, the World Heritage Week 2025 was successfully inaugurated today at the Haflong Lake Amphitheatre.
The programme was graced by esteemed dignitaries from the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council and witnessed enthusiastic participation from the community. Inspiring speeches, cultural presentations, and the ceremonial unveiling of the photo exhibition marked the beginning of this meaningful week-long celebration.
As part of the exhibition, selected photographs of artefacts and collections from the District Museum, Haflong, have also been displayed, showcasing the rich cultural and archaeological heritage of Dima Hasao.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all dignitaries, guests, performers, volunteers, media partners, and well-wishers for their support in making the inaugural ceremony truly memorable.

The photo exhibition will remain open to the public until 25th November 2025

ANNOUNCEMENT

In celebration of World Heritage Week 2025, which will be observed from 19th to 25th November, the Archaeological Survey of India, Guwahati Circle, Department of Archaeology, and the District Museum, Haflong cordially invite the public to a Photo Exhibition at the Amphitheatre, Haflong Lake Campus, opposite Don Bosco Higher Secondary School.

The event will commence with an Inaugural Programme on 19th November 2025.

As part of the celebration, an On-Spot art Competition will be held on 21st November 2025, where winners will be awarded trophies and certificates.

We warmly invite everyone to attend and be a part of this week-long programme dedicated to celebrating and preserving our cultural and natural heritage.

All are welcome.

The Seven-Day Bamboo Crafting Workshop Concludes Successfully!

The Bamboo Crafting Workshop concluded with great enthusiasm and success. What began with eager beginners transformed into a journey of creativity and innovation, as participants left with newfound skills and ideas centered around bamboo craftsmanship.

The Hon’ble Executive Member Shri Monjit Naiding graced the concluding day as the chief guest. He was deeply impressed by the outcomes and creativity displayed by the participants. Certificates were distributed to all participants and resource persons in recognition of their dedication and efforts.

A special highlight of the closing ceremony was the release of the catalogue “Treasure from the Hills: Artefacts from the District Museum, Haflong” by the Hon’ble guest, adding further significance to this enriching event.

Inaugural Session of Bamboo Craft Making Workshop Concludes Successfully!
The Bamboo Craft Making Workshop kicked off with great enthusiasm and was successfully concluded today. We were honoured by the presence of Shri Monjit Naiding, Executive Member, DHAC, as the Chief Guest, along with Shri Donpainon Thaosen, Executive Member, DHAC, and Shri John Phoithong, MAC and Spokesperson of DHAC, who graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
The participants displayed remarkable enthusiasm and actively engaged with the resource persons. Their eagerness to learn and adapt was truly inspiring. We look forward to seeing them grow into confident and capable artisans. Their handcrafted creations will be proudly showcased at the exhibition on 28th July on the premises of District Museum Haflong.
