Howrah Police Commissionerate or Howrah City Police, established in 2011, is a city police force with primary responsibilities in law enforcement and investigation within the certain urban parts of Howrah district. The Commissionerate is a part of the West Bengal Police, and is under the administrative control of Home Ministry of West Bengal. It was formed after bifurcation of the Howrah Police District and has sixteen police stations under its jurisdiction. In keeping with the promise of ‘Good Governance’ and citizen-centric policing, Howrah City was notified as metropolitan area and conferred with a policing system with the nomenclature of Police Commissionerate on 1st September, 2011. The city police, hitherto part of Howrah district is now being completely revamped with augmentation of manpower and qualitative improvement of their professional skills with avowed aim of providing the citizens of Howrah City a proactive police force capable of fighting crime, managing law and order and giving seamless connectivity through better traffic management.

🛡️ Empowering Our Students: Awareness Program on Self-Defense, Cyber Crime, and POCSO

Today, Bally Mechol Girls High School organized an impactful awareness program focused on crucial issues concerning our students' safety, digital well-being, and legal rights.

The session covered key insights on:

Self-Defense Skills: Empowering young minds with confidence and techniques for personal safety.

Cyber Crime Awareness: Educating students on staying safe in the digital world and navigating online spaces responsibly.

POCSO Act & Child Rights: Fostering awareness about protection, rights, and available support systems.

The program was successfully conducted in the presence of Inspector In Charge, Bally PS, Headmistress (HM), dedicated teaching staff, and guardians of students.

Together, let's continue to build a safer, stronger, and more aware future for our girls!

​আজ হাওড়া সিটি পুলিশের উদ্যোগে শিবপুর থানার অধীনে একটি বিশেষ সচেতনতামূলক কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়। কর্মসূচির প্রধান বিষয়গুলি ছিল নারী ও শিশু সুরক্ষা, সাইবার অপরাধ এবং মাদকাসক্তি প্রতিরোধ।

📢 সচেতনতা কর্মসূচি | হাওড়া সিটি পুলিশ

আজ গোলাবাড়ি থানার অন্তর্গত উশাঙ্গিনী বালিকা বিদ্যালয়ে সাইবার নিরাপত্তা, মানব পাচার প্রতিরোধ এবং নেশামুক্ত ভারত অভিযান (Nasha Mukt Bharat) নিয়ে একটি সচেতনতা কর্মসূচির আয়োজন করা হয়।

এই কর্মসূচিতে শিক্ষার্থীদের সাইবার জালিয়াতি ও অনলাইন প্রতারণা থেকে নিরাপদ থাকার উপায়, মানব পাচারের ঝুঁকি ও প্রতিরোধের বিভিন্ন দিক এবং মাদকাসক্তির ক্ষতিকর প্রভাব সম্পর্কে সচেতন করা হয়।

👮‍♀️ পুলিশ আধিকারিকরা শিক্ষার্থীদের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময় করেন এবং যেকোনও সন্দেহজনক বা বিপজ্জনক পরিস্থিতিতে সতর্ক থাকার পাশাপাশি সময়মতো পুলিশের সাহায্য নেওয়ার পরামর্শ দেন।

🚨 FAKE GANG BUSTED IN HOWRAH: 2 ARRESTED & LIQUOR SEIZED 🚨

In a swift and commendable operation, Shibpur Police Station has uncovered a robbery racket involving impostors posing as law enforcement officers.

On the evening of September 21, 2026, a group of miscreants pulled up in a white car with fake police logos and stickers at a local liquor store on G.T. Road, Shibpur. Impersonating as police personnels , the gang robbed 138 bottles of foreign liquor.

👮‍♂️👮‍♂️SWIFT POLICE ACTION & ARRESTS 🚔

Acting promptly on credible source inputs and technical intelligence, a dedicated team led by Shibpur PS arrested two persons namely Abhimunya Kumar Singh (42) of Sankrail and Sonu Kumar Das (22) of B. Garden.

🛑🛑Seizures: 🛑🛑
84 bottles (63 Liters) of stolen foreign liquor along with the vehicle (WB 12AV 2711) used during the commission of the crime have been seized.

FURTHER INVESTIGATION IS PROCEEDING.

শিবপুর থানার পুলিশ এক দ্রুত ও প্রশংসনীয় অভিযানের মাধ্যমে আইন-শৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীর সদস্য সেজে ডাকাতি করা একটি চক্রের হদিস পেয়েছে।

২১ সেপ্টেম্বর, ২০২৬-এর সন্ধ্যায়, দুষ্কৃতকারীদের একটি দল শিবপুরের জি.টি. রোডের একটি স্থানীয় মদের দোকানে ভুয়া পুলিশের লোগো ও স্টিকার লাগানো একটি সাদা গাড়ি নিয়ে হাজির হয়। পুলিশ কর্মী সেজে তারা ১৩৮ বোতল বিদেশি মদ লুট করে।

নির্ভরযোগ্য সূত্র ও প্রযুক্তিগত তথ্যের ভিত্তিতে দ্রুত ব্যবস্থা নিয়ে, শিবপুর থানার একটি বিশেষ দল দুই ব্যক্তিকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে—যারা হলেন সাঁকরাইলের অভিমন্যু কুমার সিং (৪২) এবং বি. গার্ডেনের সোনু কুমার দাস (২২)।

অপরাধ সংঘটনের সময় ব্যবহৃত গাড়িটি (WB 12AV 2711) এবং লুট করা ৮৪ বোতল (৬৩ লিটার) বিদেশি মদ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে।

A small moment of carelessness online can lead to major financial loss! Stay alert, informed, and protect yourself and your family from cyber fraudsters.

💡 Key Precautions to Keep in Mind:
❌ No Provision for 'Digital Arrest': There is NO provision for "Digital Arrest" under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) or any other criminal law in India. Do not panic if someone posing as a police officer or law enforcement official threatens you over a call.
❌ Part-Time Job Scams: Do not fall for alluring messages on WhatsApp or SMS promising ₹4,000–₹15,000 daily for part-time jobs or liking videos under the name of Amazon, Flipkart, or other companies. Never click on suspicious links or make payments for such job offers.
❌ Fake Customer Care Numbers: Never search for customer care numbers directly on Google, Yahoo, or Bing search engines. Fraudulent numbers are often placed there by scammers. Always obtain support contacts from the official website or verified mobile app of the company.
❌ Investment & Trading Scams: Beware of unsolicited investment tips offered on unknown Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or Telegram groups. Never invest money in unverified apps or websites promising unrealistically high returns.
❌ Sextortion Threats: Do not accept video calls from unknown individuals on social media. If someone threatens to publish recorded intimate/compromised material to extort money, do not panic or pay—report it immediately to the police.
❌ KYC & Banking Fraud: Never share your account login details, card numbers, PIN, passwords, or OTPs with anyone or on unauthorized websites. Do not click on unverified links sent via email or SMS for KYC updates.
❌ Money Mule Scams: Do not allow anyone to use your bank account to transfer illegal funds for short-term profits. Acting as a money mule is a punishable crime—"Easy money is dangerous money!"

The meeting was held in the presence of Shri Rudranil Ghosh, (Hon’ble MLA, Shibpur AC), Shri Tauseef Ali Azhar, IPS (DCP CD, HPC), Shri Mani Shankar Sengupta, WBPS (ACP CD-I, HPC) along with senior police officers and representatives of key stakeholder agencies.

Important issues relating to crowd management, traffic regulation, emergency preparedness, fire-safety compliance and electrical arrangements around puja pandals were discussed in detail.
