NITHM Celebrated Telangana Formation Day.

The National Institute of Tourism and Hospitality Management (NITHM) celebrated Telangana Formation Day with great joy. The Director of NITHM, Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, unveiled the national flag to mark the day.

The event was attended by the institute's faculty and staff. Trainees from Gundala Village in the Adilabad district, who are joining the ongoing Resort Management Skill Development Program, also took part in the event. Trainees performed a beautiful traditional dance of the Adilabad District. Program Coordinated by Dr. N. Yadagiri.

Today, NITHM hosted a dynamic Alumni Interaction Session on "Emerging Trends & Technology Competency", bringing together 42 alumni, faculty, students, and parents.

Key Takeaways & Leadership Insights:
• Prof. V. Venkata Ramana, Director of NITHM, addressed the gathering and shared strategic ideas for the institute's future development. In addition to inviting feedback from the alumni, he strongly encouraged current students to build their profiles by proactively participating in campus and industry events. The session concluded with the Director presenting participation certificates to the alumni.

• The Human Touch vs. AI: Mr. Aditya Deendayal (Alankrita Resorts) emphasized that while AI is growing, the authentic human touch remains irreplaceable in hospitality.

Praja Plana – Pragathi Pranalika 99 Days Action Plan – Tourism Week
A Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme “Trends in Tourism and Hospitality Sector – Technology Competency Enhancement” was successfully organized at the Training Hall, Academic Block, NITHM, on 19 May 2026, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the active participation of 24 faculty members from various colleges in Hyderabad.

The programme was designed to enhance faculty competencies in understanding emerging trends, technological innovations, research methodologies, and effective teaching practices in the Tourism and Hospitality (T&H) sector.

The FDP commenced with an informative session by Mr. D. Ramachandram on “The New Language of Tourism and Hospitality,” highlighting evolving tourism trends, weekend tourism, experiential travel, and the role of screen tourism in destination marketing. He emphasized the important role of educators in shaping industries.

The second session by Mr. P. Mohan and Mr. YVN Phani Kishore focused on AI in Tourism & Hospitality Education and Research, discussing the role of Artificial Intelligence, smartphones, cloud computing, IoT, automation, and AI tools in tourism education and operations, while stressing the continuing need for a human touch.

The session by Dr.B.Sasidhar highlighted the importance of effective prompts, AI tools, and AI agents in Tourism and Hospitality (T&H). It emphasized that domain knowledge is essential for accurate AI responses, traditional digital tools are insufficient, and AI should support surveys and research activities while ensuring sensitive data is not shared.

An engaging session by Puneet Razdan from Institute of Hotel Management Hyderabad emphasized the importance of remembering names for effective classroom communication, drawing insights from Dale Carnegie and his book How to Win Friends and Influence People.

The final hands-on session by Dr. D. Maheshwara Reddy introduced participants to SPSS applications in Tourism and Hospitality research, covering variables, hypothesis testing, statistics, and survey-based data analysis.

Overall, the FDP was highly informative, enhancing faculty knowledge on tourism trends, AI integration, communication skills, and research practices in the Tourism and Hospitality sector.

SIHM Reopens with a New Action Plan to Train Youth for Jobs in Tourism and Hospitality

SANGAREDDY: The State Institute of Hotel Management (SIHM) in Sangareddy has officially reopened its doors, launching a special 6-day training program running from May 18 to May 23. This grand reopening initiative is a key part of the Telangana Government’s Praja Paalana program, designed to equip local youth and women with the professional skills needed to secure high-paying jobs in the booming tourism and hospitality sectors.
The event commenced with a ceremonial lighting of the lamp. The reopening ceremony was attended by a distinguished panel of leaders:

• Under the guidance of Prof. V. Venkata Ramana (Director of NITHM and Spl. Officer SIHM) The entire reopening event and schedule were successfully coordinated by Dr. N. Yadagiri, Liaison Officer, SIHM, Sangareddy.
Key Highlights from the Reopening Plan:
• Hands-On Student Training: SIHM Director Dr. V. Venkata Ramana announced that the institute has been completely revitalized. Students studying for their B.Sc. in Hospitality and various craft courses will now get immediate, practical work experience. Dedicated government funds will allow students to train directly at Indiramma Mahila Shakti Canteens in food production, front office operations, and cafeteria management.
• Unlocking 250 Tourism Spots: Smt. Vani Prasad, IAS, highlighted that 2 out of every 10 new jobs globally come from tourism. Telangana has identified 250 local tourist attractions where youth can find employment through homestays, transport services, and heritage tourism.
• ₹5 Crore Budget for Local Courses: Sri Anji Reddy shared that ₹5 crore has been sanctioned for the Sangareddy district. This budget will fund immediate, short-term courses, including 3-month baking classes, multilingual tour guide training, and technical certifications like plumbing and electrical work. Special training for food safety officers will also be hosted at SIHM.
• Boosting Women's Entrepreneurship: Hon’ble MP Sri Suresh Shetkar urged local women's self-help groups (Mahila Sanghas) to enroll in SIHM's short 15-day to 1-month catering and confectionery courses to start their own businesses, pointing out huge self-employment opportunities in Zahirabad.
• Preparing for Global Careers: Hon’ble Minister Sri Jupally Krishna Rao stated that while government jobs are limited to around 5 lakh in the state, Hyderabad's Hitech City alone provides over 10 lakh private jobs. He emphasized that the hospitality sector opens doors worldwide.
The Minister instructed SIHM to teach intensive communication skills, personality development, and foreign languages so local youth, especially from SC, ST, and rural communities, can easily secure top-tier jobs in India and international markets like Germany and Japan. He promised to elevate SIHM Sangareddy into a world-class, corporate-level training facility.
The reopening program concluded with an official vote of thanks to all the visiting dignitaries and participants.
