The Kulsumpura Police, Golconda Zone, Hyderabad City Police, secured a conviction in a sensational murder case, resulting in Life Imprisonment for the accused.

The case pertains to the brutal murder of a woman by her husband on 15.07.2022 following a domestic dispute. The accused assaulted the victim with scissors and strangled her to death.

Following a meticulous investigation by the Kulsumpura Police and effective prosecution, the Hon'ble II Additional Sessions Judge Court, Nampally, on 23.07.2026, convicted the accused under Section 302 IPC and sentenced him to Rigorous Imprisonment for Life along with a ₹2,000 fine.

The conviction reflects the dedicated efforts of the investigating officer, prosecution team, and court duty staff in ensuring justice for the victim.

HYDERABAD: Cybercriminals are increasingly targeting senior citizens, exploiting their lack of familiarity with digital technology and inducing panic or greed to steal their life savings.

According to Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police data, 403 cases involving victims above 60 years were registered between January 2025 and July 31, 2026, resulting in a total financial loss of ₹102.02 Crores.

MAJOR FRAUD TYPES
Trading Frauds: 113 cases – ₹55.88 Cr
Digital Arrest Scams: 69 cases – ₹31.93 Cr
OTP Frauds: 115 cases – ₹4.94 Cr
Investment Frauds: 22 cases – ₹2.79 Cr
Dating/Honeytrap Frauds: 7 cases – ₹70.11 Lakh
CYBER FRAUDS DECLINE IN 2026

Hyderabad City Police awareness campaigns, proactive monitoring and timely banking intervention have contributed to a decline in cases:

2025: 285 cases | ₹71.81 Cr loss
2026 (up to July 31): 118 cases | ₹30.20 Cr loss
Prompt reporting has also enabled police and banks to freeze fraudulent transactions during the Golden Hour, improving the chances of fund recovery.
𝗔𝗗𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗢𝗥𝗬 𝗙𝗥𝗢𝗠 𝗛𝗬𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗕𝗔𝗗 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗘𝗥:
Hyderabad CP Shri V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, urged senior citizens to remain vigilant:

“There is no such thing as a Digital Arrest in India. No police or government agency will demand money or conduct an interrogation through phone or video calls.”

He advised citizens to:

Never share OTP, PIN, passwords, Aadhaar or PAN details.

Avoid online trading or investment schemes promising extraordinary returns.

Never pay additional fees or taxes to withdraw supposed profits.

Verify investment platforms through SEBI before investing.
Be cautious of suspicious WhatsApp/Telegram job and investment offers.
Families and banks should closely monitor unusual high-value transactions involving senior citizens.
