Sensitization Programme for Investigators & Co-Investigators
NRIUMSD, Hyderabad, participated in the Sensitization Programme for Investigators and Co-Investigators of the clinical study titled “Diagnostic Accuracy of the Non-Invasive Mizāj Assessment Tool for Determining Mizāj Insānī (Human Temperament): A Multi-centre Observational Clinical Study,” held on 20.08.2026 at CCRUM Headquarters, New Delhi, in hybrid mode, under the chairmanship of Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM.
Dr. Younis Iftikhar Munshi, Deputy Director General, CCRUM, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the significance of the sensitization programme in ensuring uniformity and consistency in the implementation of the multicentre study.
Dr. N. Zaheer Ahmed, Director General, CCRUM, in his introductory remarks, highlighted the objectives of the programme, including uniformity in study implementation, adherence to the approved protocol, standardisation of assessment procedures, and effective coordination among participating centres. He also reaffirmed CCRUM’s commitment to promoting evidence-based Unani medicine through quality scientific research and collaborative efforts.
Representing NRIUMSD, Prof. Qamar Uddin attended the programme virtually and delivered a presentation on “Terms of Reference for Interpretation and Question-wise Clarification of the Questionnaire for Assessment of Mizāj Insānī (Human Temperament).”
The programme witnessed online participation of approximately 65 participants representing 14 institutions involved in this significant clinical study, comprising 8 peripheral institutes under CCRUM and 6 academic Unani institutions. A total of 56 Investigators and Co-Investigators will undertake the study, establishing a strong collaborative network of researchers and academicians across the country.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Farah Ahmad, Research Officer (Unani), CCRUM, New Delhi.

🇮🇳 Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan – National Pledge Against Drug Abuse 🇮🇳

The National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders (NRIUMSD), Hyderabad, conducted the National Pledge Against Drug Abuse under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan on 18th August 2026.

The programme was held under the leadership of Prof. Qamar Uddin, Technical Head & Acting In-charge, NRIUMSD , who delivered the Introductory Remarks, highlighting the importance of collective efforts to prevent substance abuse and promote a healthy and drug-free society.

The programme was also graced by the presence of Prof. Javed Inam Siddiqui, Senior RO (Unani) and Professor, Department of Ilmul Advia , who delivered the Vote of Thanks.

The programme was coordinated by Dr. Shaik Mohammed Hussain, Nodal Officer, and Dr. Asema Mahveen, Co-Nodal Officer .

On this significant occasion, Officers, Teaching Faculty, PG Scholars, Students and Staff of the Institute actively participated in the programme and took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Pledge, reaffirming their collective commitment to preventing substance abuse.

Moalajat Departmental Seminar on “Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)”
Under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Ghazala Javed, Director (In-charge), NRIUMSD, Hyderabad, and with the valuable academic support of Dr. Qamar Uddin, Principal, NRIUMSD, Hyderabad, the Department of Moalajat successfully organized a Departmental Seminar on “Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)” on 13th August 2026.

The seminar was presented by Dr. Reshma Shaikh, 2nd Year Postgraduate Scholar, Department of Moalajat. The presentation provided a concise and comprehensive overview of Diabetic Ketoacidosis, covering its pathophysiology, precipitating factors, clinical manifestations, diagnostic criteria, complications, and principles of management. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of early recognition, prompt diagnosis, timely therapeutic intervention, and prevention of life-threatening complications.

The academic session was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Mohammad Nasar, Professor & Head, Department of Moalajat, and was organized by Prof. Aslaaf N. Shaikh, in coordination with Dr. Ashfaque Ahmed and Dr. Shaikh Mohammad Hussain.

The seminar was attended by faculty members and postgraduate scholars of the Institute. The presentation was followed by an interactive academic discussion, providing an opportunity for postgraduate scholars to strengthen their clinical knowledge, diagnostic approach, and understanding of the management of Diabetic Ketoacidosis as an important metabolic emergency.

The programme reflects the Institute’s continued commitment to promoting academic excellence, quality postgraduate education, clinical training, and research, under the leadership of Dr. Ghazala Javed, Director (In-charge), and Dr. Qamar Uddin, Principal, NRIUMSD, Hyderabad.

The 80th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders (NRIUMSD), Hyderabad, under the aegis of CCRUM, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India.

The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag, followed by the National Anthem. The occasion brought together the NRIUMSD family in a spirit of patriotism, unity and pride in our nation.

🎤 Speech Competition –Theme: “Lesser-Known Freedom Fighters”

The Speech Competition for MD Scholars, organized as part of the Independence Day Celebrations 2026, was successfully conducted at NRIUMSD, Hyderabad on 14th August 2026.

The event provided scholars a vibrant platform to showcase their oration skills, knowledge, creativity, and patriotic spirit, while highlighting the courage, sacrifices, and contributions of the lesser-known heroes of India’s freedom struggle.

Heartfelt appreciation to all participating scholars for their enthusiastic and inspiring presentations.

🏛️ Heritage Quiz 2026 | Revisiting Roots 🇮🇳

As part of the Independence Day Celebration–2026 and the Awareness & Heritage Week themed “Revisiting Roots”, the National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders (NRIUMSD), Hyderabad, under CCRUM, Ministry of Ayush, Government of India, successfully conducted the Heritage Quiz on 13 August 2026 at the Auditorium.

The quiz provided an engaging platform for faculty, research officers, scholars and staff to explore and celebrate India’s rich history, heritage, culture and freedom struggle, while fostering a spirit of learning, teamwork and patriotism. 🇮🇳📚

🎤 The quiz was expertly hosted by Dr. M. A. Rasheed Naikodi, Research Officer (Chemistry), who conducted the quiz rounds with enthusiasm and kept the participants actively engaged throughout the competition. The quiz was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Dr. Ghazala Javed, Director I/c, with Dr. Hafiz C. Aslam and Dr. Qamar Uddin served as the Judges.

👏 The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks, expressing sincere gratitude to the Director I/c, Judges, participants, Nodal Officer, Organizing team and all those who contributed to the successful conduct of the Heritage Quiz.

The Department of Ilmul Advia, NRIUMSD, Hyderabad, successfully conducted a departmental seminar on 12/08/2026 by Dr. Momin Faizan, PG Scholar, Batch 2024–25, on the insightful topic:

🌿 “Abdal-e-Advia (Substitution of Drugs)”

The seminar was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Ghazala Javed, Director In-Charge, NRIUMSD, and Prof. Dr. Qamar Uddin, Principal, NRIUMSD.

The faculty members of the Department, including Prof. Dr. Uzma Viquar, Head, Department of Ilmul Advia, Prof. Dr. Javed Inam Siddiqui, Dr. Asema Mahveen and Dr. Nazima Sultana, actively participated in the academic session.

Dr. Momin Faizan has very well elaborated the Understanding of Abdal-e-Advia, Types of Substitution, Historical Background, Need of Substitution, Principles of Substitution, Critical review, Scientific Research and its future perspectives.

The engaging Question & Answer session enriched the seminar through meaningful scholarly discussion, critical thinking and exchange of ideas.

The National Research Institute of Unani Medicine for Skin Disorders (NRIUMSD), Hyderabad, organised a special invited lecture programme as part of its Independence Day Celebrations 2026, on the theme:

“The Evolution of Indian Science: Progress in National Scientific and Medical Research Since 1947.”

The Institute was privileged to welcome two distinguished Padma Shri awardees:

CSIR Bhatnagar Fellow, Evolutionary & Medical Genetics, CSIR-CCMB, Hyderabad

🌿 Padma Shri Dr. M. A. Waheed
Former Officiating Director, CCRUM–Central Research Institute of Unani Medicine, Hyderabad

Dr. K. Thangaraj delivered an insightful lecture on “Our Origin, Culture and Consequences,” while Dr. M. A. Waheed shared his valuable experiences through “My Journey at NRIUMSD Hyderabad: An Experience Sharing.”

Dr. Ghazala Javed, Director In-charge, NRIUMSD, delivered the Welcome and Introductory Address and highlighted the importance of scientific curiosity, evidence-based research and innovation in advancing Indian science and medicine.
