Successful Completion – Computer Networking – Beginners Course

NIGST, Hyderabad
The National Institute of Geomatics Science and Technology (NIGST), Hyderabad, successfully conducted a five-day Computer Networking – Beginners course for 12 officers and officials from various offices of the Survey of India.
The programme provided foundational knowledge and practical skills in computer networking, addressing, protocols, switching, routing, network segmentation, wireless networking, network security, and modern networking technologies.
Key areas covered included:
• Networking fundamentals, architecture, components and Packet Tracer
• MAC/IP addressing, protocols, switching and routing
• OSI & TCP/IP models, subnetting, VLANs and ACLs
• Wireless networking and security hardening
• Network troubleshooting and device configuration
• Virtualization, SDN, Converged Infrastructure and HCI
The programme combined classroom sessions, demonstrations and hands-on activities to develop participants’ ability to configure, manage and troubleshoot computer networks.
Shri S. V. Pavan Kumar joined as Guest Faculty and delivered expert lectures and demonstrations, enriching the learning experience.
The Valedictory Session was attended by Shri G. Varuna Kumar, Additional Surveyor General, NIGST, and Shri Pankaj Mishra, DSG & Head, Faculty of Geo-ICT, who appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm of the trainees.
The programme strengthened the participants’ foundational knowledge and practical skills in computer networking and modern network technologies.
