A Training Programme on Scientific Cultivation Practices for Redgram Farmers and Input Distribution was organized by the Department of Agriculture, Ranga Reddy District, at Rythu Vedika, Shabad, on 29 August 2026 under the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses.

The programme was attended by Hon’ble MLA Shri Kale Yadaiah as the Chief Guest. The programme focused on creating awareness among farmers about the adoption of scientific and improved cultivation practices in redgram for enhancing productivity and profitability.

During the training, Dr. Dilip S (SMS Extension) ICAR-CRIDA KVK Ranga Reddy attended as resource person

As part of the programme, agricultural inputs were distributed to farmers to facilitate the adoption of recommended practices under the Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses.

The Hon’ble MLA encouraged farmers to adopt scientific technologies and make effective use of the support provided by the Department of Agriculture.

The programme was attended by agricultural department officials, public representatives, farmers and other representatives.

𝐼𝐶𝐴𝑅-𝐶𝑅𝐼𝐷𝐴 𝑜𝑟𝑔𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑧𝑒𝑑 𝑎 𝑑𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑟𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛 𝑜𝑛 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐴𝑔𝑟𝑖-𝐻𝑜𝑟𝑡𝑖 𝑀𝑜𝑑𝑒𝑙 𝑢𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑆𝑐ℎ𝑒𝑑𝑢𝑙𝑒𝑑 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒 𝑆𝑢𝑏 𝑃𝑙𝑎𝑛 (𝑆𝐶𝑆𝑃)

ICAR–Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture (ICAR-CRIDA) organized a demonstration on the Agri-Horti Model under the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP) programme in Kusharampally Thanda, Chincholi taluk on 31st August 2026 to promote climate-resilient agroforestry systems among dryland farmers.

Dr. Ravikant Adake, Principal Scientist, highlighted the importance of the SCSP programme in supporting farmers through appropriate agricultural interventions and improving their livelihood and resilience.

Dr. K. B. Sridhar, Senior Scientist, explained the importance of agroforestry and its relevance to carbon credits, emphasizing the potential of tree-based farming systems to provide multiple ecosystem services and additional income opportunities.

Dr. Keerthika A., Senior Scientist, provided practical guidance on planting techniques of different fruit species and highlighted the importance of biofertilizer as a filling mixture for tree species.

A total of 1,270 seedlings comprising mango (100), guava (250), pomegranate(150), custard apple (150), lime (120) and moringa (500) were distributed to 160 beneficiaries. In addition biofertilizer packets of 400 KSB, 300 Azotobacter, 300 Azospirillum were also distributed.
The seedlings will be planted around nutrigardens and farm areas to promote fruit and nutritional security, diversify farm production and enhance the climate resilience of dryland farming systems.

Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ranga Reddy, ICAR-CRIDA,conducted a Farmers’ Field School (FFS) under the ATMA Scheme on 27th August 2026 at Rampur village, Thalakondapally Mandal, Ranga Reddy District, Telangana.

The programme comprised farmer field interactions and practical field demonstrations, providing farmers with an opportunity to interact directly with KVK scientists and seek solutions to field-level agricultural problems.

The KVK experts provided technical guidance on suitable paddy varieties, crop management practices, and identification and management of major insect pests and diseases.

Farmers were also sensitized on the selection of improved maize and redgram varieties suited to the prevailing local agro-climatic conditions.

Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan, SMS (Agronomy), and Dr. Dilip S., SMS (Extension), served as resource persons. Dr. Gautam Veer Chauhan explained the importance of biofertilizers such as Azospirillum, Azotobacter and Phosphate-Solubilizing Bacteria (PSB), with emphasis on their proper storage, recommended dosage and appropriate methods of application.

Dr. Dilip S., SMS (Extension), highlighted various aspects of sustainable agriculture and sensitized farmers about the possible impacts of El Niño conditions on rainfall patterns and crop production.
He emphasized the importance of timely weather-based decision-making and suitable contingency measures. He also created awareness about the Kisan Sarathi app for accessing timely agricultural information and expert advisory services.

A 15-day residential training program was conducted under the aegis of CSC for FPOs, PACS, and VLEs regarding dealer licenses for fertilizers, seeds, and agrochemicals by ICAR-CRIDA,KVK,Ranga Reddy.
Thirty participants attended the program, which took place from August 11 to August 25, 2026, at the training hall of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Ranga Reddy district of ICAR–CRIDA (Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture), Hyderabad.

Dr. Chandrakant M.H., Senior Scientist and Head, KVK Ranga Reddy, delivered the welcome address and extended a warm welcome to the guests, resource persons and participants.

Dr. S. Vijaya Kumar, SMS (Agricultural Engineering), Training Coordinator, presented an overview of the training programme .

Shri Shiva Reddy, Senior Executive, CSC Telangana, Hyderabad, delivered the opening remarks and highlighted the importance of skill development and institutional capacity building for FPOs and PACS in the agricultural input sector.

Mrs. M. Sujata, District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Rangareddy, attended the programme as the Guest of Honour .

The inaugural programme was graced by Dr. J.V.N.S. Prasad, Project Coordinator, AICRPDA, ICAR–CRIDA, Hyderabad, as the Chief Guest. In his address, he emphasized the importance of strengthening the knowledge and technical capacity of FPOs and PACS to enable them to provide quality agricultural input services to farmers.

During the valedictory programme, Dr. K. V. Rao, Head, DRM, ICAR–CRIDA, as Chief Guest, and Mr. Krupashankar, SMM, IFFCO, as Guest of Honour, delivered the closing remarks and distributed certificates to the participants.

The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. G. Sri Krishna, SMS (Horticulture), KVK Ranga Reddy.
