Old City Metro Rail Corridor Expansion Works Accelerated
HMRL Additional MD Mr. B. Ajith Reddy Conducts Field Inspection
Mr. B. Ajith Reddy, Additional Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited and Hyderabad Airport Metro Limited, has directed officials from all relevant government departments to expedite their work regarding the Old City Metro Rail expansion. Today (Saturday), he conducted a field inspection of the road widening works along the Metro Rail corridor in the Old City.
Accompanied by Metro Rail Chief Engineer Mr. S. Bhaskar Reddy, he personally inspected the road widening operations spanning 7.5 kilometres from Darulshifa to Chandrayangutta. He inquired about the status of property acquisitions, noting that 833 out of the 888 affected properties along this route have already been acquired. He also discussed with officials the measures being taken to expand the Metro Rail route alongside the remaining 55 properties, which include heritage structures and ancient buildings. Furthermore, Mr. Ajith Reddy instructed that the work of safely relocating utilities—such as power lines, poles, and water pipelines—be accelerated to ensure they do not obstruct the project.
He urged officials to earnestly implement the Honourable Chief Minister's directives to expedite the Old City Metro works and ensure enhanced transport convenience for local residents. The Additional MD directed officials to expedite the removal of affected assets where land acquisition has been completed. The Additional MD noted that locals are expressing happiness regarding the Old City Metro works and are extending their cooperation. Mr. Ajith Reddy advised all government departments involved in the corridor's Metro works to coordinate effectively and strive to secure the Right of Way (RoW) quickly. He commended the revenue officials for their significant efforts in land acquisition amidst various challenges.
The field visit was attended by Metro Rail Special Project Manager Mr. C. Vinod Kumar, Executive Engineer Mr. K. Shyam Mohan Reddy, Deputy CE Mr. T. Ramachandran, Project Manager Mr. K. Narasinga Rao, Land Acquisition DGM Mr. V. Praveen Kumar, GHMC Zonal Commissioner Mr. K. Satyanarayana, as well as officials from Metro Water Works and HMRL. Spl Dy. Collector (LA) Smt. K.Swarnalatha and Tahsildars involved in Land Acquisition also participated in the inspection.
