Former Rajya Sabha MP Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar Mourns the Demise of Veteran Farmer Leader Sarampalli Malla Reddy
Hyderabad: Former Rajya Sabha MP Rapolu Ananda Bhaskar expressed deep sorrow over the demise of veteran left-wing, labour and farmers’ leader Comrade Sarampalli Malla Reddy, describing him as a guiding force and a “big support” for farmers of the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh and present-day Telangana.
In a condolence message, Ananda Bhaskar recalled his long association with Malla Reddy and his contribution to farmers’ struggles. He said Malla Reddy had dedicated his entire life to the left, labour and peasant movements and played a significant role in mobilising farmers during difficult periods.
Recalling the rise in farmers’ suicides after 1995, Ananda Bhaskar said he, along with Kodanda Reddy and other opposition parties, farmers’ organisations and people’s movements, had initiated a united struggle to mount pressure on the then government.
He recalled that the farmers’ movement subsequently organised a massive demonstration in Delhi, following which the issue was discussed in Parliament and brought to the attention of the government. Ananda Bhaskar said he participated alongside Malla Reddy in several subsequent farmers’ struggles and movements.
Paying his tributes, the former Rajya Sabha MP prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul of Malla Reddy and conveyed his profound condolences and sympathy to the bereaved family members, friends and followers.
