A productive meeting was held between Shri Somorjit Salam, IAS, Secretary (IT), Government of Manipur, Shri Robert Sharma, Director (IT), other senior officials of the Department, and Dr. Mrutyunjay Suar, Director General – Industry-Institute-Innovation Interface, KIIT University; Chairman, Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (an initiative of the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India); and CEO, KIIT Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI), along with the team from ManipurTech Innovation Foundation (MTIF), formerly MTI HUB.

During the meeting, a comprehensive Impact Report of MTIF was presented, showcasing the Foundation's key achievements, ongoing initiatives, and strategic roadmap for strengthening the startup and innovation ecosystem in Manipur.

The discussions focused on fostering innovation-driven entrepreneurship, expanding incubation support, and accelerating technology-led development across the State. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with the Department reaffirming its commitment to supporting the growth and expansion of MTIF's initiatives to create greater opportunities and drive meaningful impact for the people of Manipur.

The Department of Information Technology, Government of Manipur, is taking a significant step towards a digitally empowered future through a proposed collaboration with Microsoft. The non-binding and non-exclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to strengthen digital governance, enhance AI capabilities, improve cybersecurity, promote digital skilling, and foster innovation and employment opportunities. Aligned with the vision of Digital India and IndiaAI, this initiative seeks to build a future-ready workforce, improve citizen-centric public services, and position Manipur as a hub for digital transformation and inclusive technological growth.

A physical model of the “Development of Infrastructure of the Processing Zone of Manipur IT-SEZ” at Mantripukhri, Imphal under PM-DevINE was displayed at the North East India Infrastructure Summit and Exhibition (NEIIFRA) 2026 held in Shillong, Meghalaya on 15th–16th June, 2026.
The model showcased Manipur's ongoing efforts in developing world-class IT infrastructure and highlighted the State's commitment towards promoting investment, employment generation, and economic growth in the North Eastern Region.
